Summary: MYO1B expression is increased in ESCC and correlated with tumor stage, TNM stage, and poor outcomes. Depletion of MYO1B impairs oncogenesis and enhances chemosensitivity in ESCC. SNAI2 is a downstream effector of MYO1B, and suppression of MYO1B downregulates SNAI2 expression and inhibits the SNAI2/cyclin D1 pathway.

Summary: We found that benzydamine, a locally acting non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, has potent cytotoxic effect on esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cells. It can suppress ESCC proliferation in vivo and in vitro. Benzydamine inhibits ESCC cell growth by downregulating the CDK2 pathway and affecting downstream phosphorylation of MCM2, c-Myc, and Rb, leading to cell cycle arrest.

Summary: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a deadly malignancy with late-stage diagnosis and poor prognosis. In this study, PDK1 was found to play a role in ESCC by regulating metabolic reprogramming, and its inhibition using DCA showed promising antitumor effects. Additionally, the combination of DCA and cisplatin synergistically inhibited glycolysis and progression of ESCC cells through the Keap1/Nrf2 signaling pathway.

Summary: Exosomal miRNAs have the potential to serve as biomarkers for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). This study identified specific exosomal miRNAs that were differentially expressed in ESCC, and validated their expression levels in the plasma of healthy controls and ESCC patients. The results showed that plasma exosomal miR-205-5p, miR-429, and miR-375-3p could be potential biomarkers for the diagnosis of ESCC.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the combination therapy of CDK4/6 and panEGFR inhibitors can significantly reduce tumor growth, induce cellular senescence, and regulate metabolic pathways in HNSCC, suggesting that dual targeting may be a critical therapeutic strategy in blocking tumor progression.

Summary: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) requires early detection and treatment for improved survival, but diagnosis can be challenging due to observer variation. Studies have shown significant dysregulation of miRNA expression in superficial ESCC, particularly with miR-21-5p, miR-146b-5p, and miR-210-3p. These miRNAs are associated with ESCC invasion depth and lymphovascular invasion.

Summary: This study investigates the role of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5) in regulating the growth of tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC). CDK5 functions as an oncogene in TSCC and may serve as a molecular marker for diagnosis and treatment. Changes in the cell cycle are important in the development of tumor cells, and CDK5 has been found to be dysregulated in cancer cells.

Summary: Upregulation of miR-377 inhibits self-renewal of ESCC stem cells by targeting CBX3 and activating the P53/P21 pathway, leading to decreased expression of stem-like markers and reduced abilities of cell proliferation and tumorigenicity.

Summary: Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a common and deadly cancer with limited effective therapies. The study found that while HGF and MET genetic alterations are not common in ESCC, MET expression is consistently upregulated in tumors, suggesting it as a potential therapeutic target. However, intratumor heterogeneity should be considered for eligibility for HGF-MET targeted therapy.
