Summary: Composite catalysts Pd/B,N-CDs@CNT were designed by immobilizing Pd nanoparticles on a hybrid support composed of B,N-doped carbon dots (B,N-CDs) and multi-wall carbon nanotubes (CNT). The Pd nanoparticles showed clean surface, low crystallinity, and surface distortion. The catalyst exhibited significantly enhanced oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity, about 5-6 times higher than commercial Pt/C, mainly attributed to the unique microstructure of Pd nanoparticles. The composite B,N-CDs and doped B,N heteroatoms further improved the ORR performance through more absorption sites, facilitating electron transfer, promoting adsorption of oxygenated species, and weakening the interaction between Pd and C.

Summary: This work presents the targeted modification of carbon paste (CP) by adding conductive graphene oxide (GO) and mesoporous natural zeolite with Ni2+ cations (NiZ), which enhances the electrocatalytic properties. A univariate optimization showed that 5% (w/w) of NiZ and GO in the CP led to a threefold increase in peak current, decreased overpotential of paracetamol (PAR) oxidation, low background current, and high signal-to-noise ratio. The CPE/NiZ/GO sensor exhibited a linear response in the PAR concentration range of 0.004 to 0.12 mg L-1, with a low limit of detection of 0.0012 mg L-1 (0.0078 μM) and high stability (RSD = 3%). The proposed method demonstrated good selectivity and robustness to interference, and was successfully applied for the determination of PAR in pharmaceuticals, human urine, and serum.
