Summary: This study successfully applied a planning-constrained cellular automata model to the Wuhan Urban Development Area, showing higher simulation accuracy. Weakening planning constraints could lead to urban growth occupying more ecological and agricultural land, providing certain early warnings for future urban land patterns.

Summary: This paper introduces a combined approach for delivering future land use/land cover scenarios in three major Czech cities and supporting adaptation planning. The approach includes downscaled Shared Socioeconomic Pathways, collaborative processes with stakeholders, and computer modeling of land use/land cover scenarios. This methodological approach can engage stakeholders in the scenario building process and support urban adaptation planning considering various interests and challenges.

Summary: This commentary suggests that by incorporating degrowth, the United Nations' Agenda 2030 and the New Urban Agenda can offer alternative ecological values as climate responses. In return, degrowth can benefit from engaging with the various scales and sectors of these institutions for climate and planning practices. However, these multi-scalar engagements require a repoliticisation of institutional and professional routines, processes, and procedures.

Summary: We propose coupling degrowth with urban studies and planning agendas, identifying it as both academically significant and politically urgent. Our objectives are to integrate degrowth concepts into everyday spatial practices, broaden its applicability beyond localized experiments, and explore its variations in the Global North and South. We outline a programmatic approach for urban degrowth with five steps, focusing on historical context, institutional engagement, scaling up grassroots initiatives, involving experts, and addressing urban social inequalities.

Summary: This paper examines how degrowth can be applied to sustainable spatial practices in architecture, urban design, and planning. Through a review of over 200 sustainable spatial projects, it shows that many examples using sustainability strategies align with degrowth principles, providing a potential stepping-stone for an urban design culture rooted in degrowth.

Summary: Health and urban planning used to have a common evolution to combat infectious diseases in Western European cities, but now there is a disconnect as health is overlooked in urban planning. Despite global efforts, urban health is still mainly focused on illness research and healthcare provision in urban environments, while urban planning refrains from incorporating health interventions. A survey conducted among Greek municipalities reveals the absence of health in urban planning and the limited actions taken. This article proposes a conceptual framework to change the mindset of planners and decision-makers and highlights its key attributes.

Summary: This article discusses the planned and intentional process of degrowth economics, highlighting the oversight of power and politics issues and the inevitability of emergence and uncertainty in social change within this framework. It suggests acknowledging the limitations of intentionality and supporting concepts such as "degrowth practice," "dual power," and "degrowth strategy" instead.

Summary: This paper presents a case-based critique of sustainable urban development strategies, using Copenhagen as a critical case. It argues that Copenhagen's sustainability strategy is ineffective for ecological sustainability due to factors such as externalization of emissions, focus on efficiency rather than overall impact, and proposing sustainability measures as a means to promote economic growth.

Summary: The agricultural sector in Rafsanjan, Iran is facing challenges due to water scarcity and climate change, leading to the loss of pistachio orchards. Governmental strategies of modernizing irrigation methods and transferring water from other regions have not been successful, prompting more participatory approaches in agricultural transformation and local urban planning. The study analyzes the actor network and rise of high-tech urban agriculture in Rafsanjan, focusing on the role of technologies in supporting citizen participation in local urban planning.

Summary: The synergistic management of economy-energy-environment nexus is crucial for balancing economic development, energy supply, and environmental conservation. The MIO-ENM model integrates input-output model, scenario analysis, and simulation-optimization techniques to identify key factors affecting the system and generate optimal strategies for regional sustainability, as demonstrated in the planning for the Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration over a long-term horizon.
