Noncoding RNAs play significant roles in the reproductive system, involved in regulating crucial cellular events such as spermatogenesis and follicular development. Abnormal expression of ncRNAs is closely linked to diseases like testicular germ cell tumors and polycystic ovary syndrome.
The World Health Organization predicts that infertility will be the third major health threat after cancer and cardiovascular disease, and will become a hot topic in medical research. Studies have shown that epigenetic changes are an important component of gametogenesis and related reproductive diseases. Epigenetic regulation of noncoding RNA (ncRNA) is appropriate and is a research hotspot in the biomedical field; these include long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), microRNA (miRNA), and PIWI-interacting RNA (piRNA). As vital members of the intracellular gene regulatory network, they affect various life activities of cells. LncRNA functions as a molecular bait, molecular signal and molecular scaffold in the body through molecular guidance. miRNAs are critical regulators of gene expression; they mainly control the stability or translation of their target mRNA after transcription. piRNA functions mainly through silencing genomic transposable elements and the post-transcriptional regulation of mRNAs in animal germ cells. Current studies have shown that these ncRNAs also play significant roles in the reproductive system and are involved in the regulation of essential cellular events in spermatogenesis and follicular development. The abnormal expression of ncRNA is closely linked to testicular germ cell tumors, poly cystic ovary syndrome and other diseases. This paper briefly presents the research on the reproductive process and reproductive diseases involving ncRNAs.

Role of Oxidative Stress in Varicocele

High levels of ROS can lead to infertility by damaging DNA, affecting lipid peroxidation, and inactivating enzymes and proteins involved in spermatogenesis.

Chitosan/PLGA shell nanoparticles as Tylotoin delivery platform for advanced wound healing

Summary: Wound treatment is a common healthcare issue, and Tylotoin, a peptide derived from salamander, has shown skin wound healing properties. However, its degradation and administration limitations hinder its use. In this study, Chitosan-PLGA-Tylotoin nanoparticles were developed to deliver Tylotoin for wound healing. The nanoparticles demonstrated good antibacterial properties, biocompatibility, and sustained release of Tylotoin, leading to improved wound healing in vitro and in vivo.

Cerebral small vessel disease combined with cerebral collaterals to predict the prognosis of patients with acute large artery atherosclerotic stroke

Summary: This research proposes a TD GLM method based on temporal moment analysis, which improves the recovery of HRF by incorporating TD moment data and auxiliary physiological measurements. The results show that properly covariance-scaled TD moment techniques outperform their CW equivalents in both RMSE and correlation, and the proposed TD GLM outperforms regular TD moment analysis while allowing the incorporation of auxiliary measurements.

A Membrane Curvature Modulated Lipopeptide to Broadly Combat Multidrug- Resistant Bacterial Pneumonia with Low Resistance Risk

Summary: A lipopeptide nanomicelle (LP 20) with the ability to modulate membrane curvature was developed, resulting in accelerated and enhanced antibacterial activity against multidrug-resistant (MDR) Gram-negative pathogens. LP-20 effectively targeted multiple components on the bacterial membrane, causing efficient damage to both inner and outer membrane. In addition, LP-20 showed prolonged lifetime in mice infected with MDR pathogens.

Oroxylin A regulates cGAS DNA hypermethylation induced by methionine metabolism to promote HSC senescence

Summary: Relevant studies have shown that Oroxylin A promotes senescence in hepatic stellate cells (HSC) by activating the cGAS-STING pathway. The activation of this pathway is dependent on the downregulation of DNMT3A, which suppresses cGAS gene DNA methylation. Oroxylin A prevents the production of methionine metabolites, leading to a decrease in SAM levels and consequently a reduction in DNMT activity. In vivo experiments also confirmed the induction of HSC senescence by Oroxylin A, with partially offset by DNMT3A overexpression.

Summary: In this study, it was found that progesterone has oncogenic effects in prostate cancer patients, activating androgen receptor target genes and promoting cell proliferation. Inhibiting the generation of progesterone may eliminate its oncogenic effects, and increased levels of progesterone could serve as a predictive biomarker for poor clinical outcomes.
