Two new amido-bridged complexes, dimeric [Mn-III(L)(H2O)](2)center dot 6H(2)O (1), and two-dimensional (2D) [K (MeOH)(2)(MnCuII)-Cu-III(L)(2)] (2) (H3L = 1-(2-hydroxybenzamido)-2-((2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene) amino) ethane) have been prepared and characterized by X-ray single-crystal structure analysis and magnetic measurements. Structural analysis shows that complex 1 is a phenoxo-bridged Mn(III) dimer, and complex 2 possesses 1D chains of amido-bridged alternate [Mn(L)] and [Cu(L)] units, which are further linked by K+ ions giving rise to a 2D layered structure. Magnetic studies reveal that complex 1 exhibits intermetallic ferromagnetic coupling, while complex 2 shows antiferromagnetic interaction between Cu(II) and high-spin Mn(III). The chi T-m similar to T curves of complexes 1-2 have been well fitted based on dinuclear models. (C) 2016 Elsevier B. V. All rights reserved.
