Summary: The preferential formation of phases in Ni-Al, Fe-Al, and Ti-Al systems was observed at the interface of solid-solid and solid-liquid phases. The favored formation was not associated with thermodynamic assumptions, but was caused by crystal structures of arisen phases. The lattice volumes of Ni2Al3, Fe2Al5, and Ti2Al5 phases are always smaller than that of NiAl3, FeAl3, and TiAl3 phases.

Summary: An effective method for preparing low-oxygen Ti powder was reported, involving self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) process and electrodeoxidation in molten CaCl2. The experiments demonstrated the conversion of TiO2 to TiOx<1 powder, and the subsequent transformation of TiOx<1 powder to pure titanium powder through electrodeoxidation, with the shrinking of lattice.

Summary: High pressure torsion is investigated as an alternative process to produce bulk nanocomposites with high reactivity, similar to those obtained from ball milling or magnetron sputtering. Samples deformed at ambient temperature can be ignited significantly below the Al melting point, consisting predominantly of Al3Ni2 and Al3Ni, independent of the applied strain. The reaction, although initiated at the edge of the disk, is not prevented by the strain gradient present in the disks.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of oxygen on the microstructure and evolution mechanism of molybdenum. The results show that with increasing oxygen content, more oxygen exists in the pores between molybdenum grains, leading to a change in the fracture mode. These findings provide new insights for controlling and regulating the properties of molybdenum.

Summary: Nickel aluminides possess desirable properties for high-temperature applications, but the challenges of processing and machining hindered their benefits in the 1990s. However, advancements in manufacturing techniques, understanding of aluminide microstructure and deformation processes, and developments in micro-alloying have contributed to the progress of nickel aluminides. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the key developments, manufacturing methods, and challenges in producing nickel aluminides, as well as their applications and current trends.

Summary: The paper presents the results of Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS) in ternary Ti-Al-C and quaternary 2xTi-2(1-x)Zr-Al-C (x=0.5-0.9) systems, conducted in argon and hydrogen environments. The influence of initial mixture composition on microstructure, phase composition, and crystallographic parameters of synthesized compounds was investigated. Rietveld analysis of X-ray diffraction patterns was used to calculate lattice parameters and quantitative phase composition. Combustion of Ti-Al-C system produced Ti2AlC and Ti3AlC2 MAX phases (85-89%), as well as TiCx phase (11-15%). Combustion of Ti-Zr-Al-C system, depending on Ti/Zr ratio, Al and C contents, resulted in the formation of main MAX phases (Ti2AlC, Ti3AlC2, Zr2AlC) and FCC carbides of transition metals.

Summary: Designing efficient catalysts is crucial for the development of electrochemical synthesis technologies. In this study, a novel vacuum induction strategy is used to synthesize a nickel boride/nickel (Ni3B/Ni) heterostructure catalyst for the electrochemical oxidation of methanol. The catalyst exhibits high reactivity, ultra-high selectivity, and ultra-long life. Mechanistic studies suggest that the formation of *CH2O occurs most favorably in the Ni3B/Ni heterostructure.

Summary: Laser-induced dielectric breakdown was used to synthesize and deposit molybdenum borides under specific gas atmospheres. The emission spectra of the plasma and the dynamics of the gas discharge were investigated. A comparative analysis of the gas mixture before and after exposure to the plasma was conducted. The conditions and chemical reactions for the formation of molybdenum borides were determined. Different structures and sizes of molybdenum boride deposits were obtained.

Summary: This article discusses the potential of obtaining regenerated photocatalytic materials of cylindrical shape for flow-through water purification systems. Two methods, cementation in a ceramic base matrix and laser fusion with a ceramic base of standard powder photocatalysts (ZnO, TiO2), were compared based on photocatalytic activity criteria. The materials obtained were tested in a flow-through water purification unit, showing efficiency in the photo-oxidation of model organic pollutants.

Summary: The photocatalytic properties of heterostructures composed of various strontium bismuthates and bismuthyl carbonate were investigated. Enhanced photocatalytic activity was observed in SrxBiyOz/(BiO)2CO3 heterostructures for different strontium bismuthates. The increased photocatalytic activity in this type of heterostructure was attributed to type II heterojunctions.

Summary: Various microspherules including silicate, Fe-oxide, and Cu-Au-Ag are found in the Kostenga deposit in the Lesser Khingan region of Far East Russia, believed to form due to rapid uplift and degassing of ore-silicate melts. The presence of these microspherules provides valuable insights into the possible volcanic formation and precious metal mineralization processes in such deposits.

Summary: This study presents new data on gold alloys in iron oxide deposits in the Lesser Khingan Range of the Russian Far East, shedding light on the behavior of gold during the differentiation of metal-rich silicate melts and the mechanisms of gold alloy formation. The research indicates a possible connection between iron-oxide mineralization and the formation of Cu-Ag-Au spherules, possibly involving silicate-metallic immiscibility and explosive volcanism, suggesting that gold alloys formed in deep roots of arc volcanoes might serve as an exploration guide for high-grade epithermal gold mineralization at shallow structural levels of hydrothermal-volcanic environments.
