This study retrospectively evaluated the efficacy and safety of oral fruquintinib in mCRC patients, showing consistent clinical activity with previous clinical trials and manageable side effects in real-world settings.
Fruquintinib, also called HMPL-013, was first discovered by Hutchison Whampoa Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd., Shanghai, China, and it is an oral vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) inhibitor. In clinical trials, fruquintinib has demonstrated a survival benefit in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients. The purpose of this study was to retrospectively evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of fruquintinib in real-world patients. We collected data from patients with mCRC treated with oral fruquintinib from 2018 to 2020 in six different institutions. Patients with mCRC initially received 5 mg of oral fruquintinib daily for 3 weeks. Progression-free survival (PFS) was evaluated using the Kaplan???Meier method. The efficacy and safety of fruquintinib were also assessed. Seventy-five patients were involved in our study, and 29.3% of patients achieved stable disease (SD). Median PFS was 5.4 months (95% CI: 4.841???5.959). The treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs) with fruquintinib were acceptable with grade 3 TEAEs of 6%. The grade 3 TEAEs were hand???foot skin reaction (HFSR), fatigue, and stomatitis. The ECOG performance status was associated with PFS. In this real-world study, the clinical activity of fruquintinib was consistent with what has been reported in previous clinical trials. The level of safety was acceptable, and the side effects were manageable.

Diagnostic value of echocardiography in paracardiac cystic lesions: 43 cases from one single medical center

Jinfeng Liu, Qing LV, Jing Wang, Li Zhang, Mingxing Xie, Yali Yang

Summary: Paracardial cystic lesions are rare, benign lesions that may occur in any part surrounding the heart, with various pathological types such as pericardial cysts, thymic cysts, and bronchogenic cysts. This study aimed to summarize the diagnostic value of echocardiography in different types of PCLs based on the analysis of 43 cases. Echocardiography plays a significant role in the accurate diagnosis of PCLs and intracardiac lesions, mainly through identifying characteristic features in the location and morphology of the lesions.

Extragastrointestinal Stromal Tumor Presenting as a Recurrent Vaginal Mass: Case Report

Shuai Liu, Pan Pan, Bing Han, Jingnan Wang, Meili Sun, Yuping Sun

Summary: EGISTs are rare malignant tumors that can occur outside the gastrointestinal tract, as seen in a case of a 60-year-old woman with a tumor in the vagina in this report. Surgical excision and histological examination are crucial, and literature reviews provide valuable insights into management and treatment.

Asymmetry of inferior turbinate in patients with nasal septum deviation and its significance for nasal ventilation surgery

Jinfeng Liu, Zhuoming Qian, Zhanfeng Yan, Xuwen Yang, Ningyu Wang

Summary: This study investigated the asymmetry of the inferior turbinate in patients with nasal septum deviation. It was found that the asymmetric width of the inferior turbinate is mainly caused by hypertrophy of the mucosa on the concave side and atrophy of the bone on the convex side. Surgical intervention should protect the inferior turbinate on the convex side and reduce the submucosal tissue on the concave side.

Anatomical identification of supraseptal posterior ethmoid cells and its significance for endoscopic sinus surgery

J. Liu, Y. Wang, Z. Yan, Y. Yang

Summary: This study investigated the anatomical imaging characteristics of supraseptal posterior ethmoid cells (SPEC). It was found that SPEC is a rare pneumatization that occurs in the posterior superior area of the nasal septum. Care should be taken to protect the skull base, cribriform plate, and posterior ethmoidal artery when dealing with SPEC during endoscopic sinus surgery.

Mini-review: The neural circuits of the non-lemniscal inferior colliculus

Mengting Liu, Jinsheng Dai, Mo Zhou, Jinfeng Liu, Xinying Ge, Ningyu Wang, Juan Zhang

Summary: The inferior colliculus (IC) is a crucial hub in the central auditory system (CAS), where most auditory synapses converge. The two sub-regions of the non-lemniscal IC, the dorsal and external cortex, have distinct inputs and outputs, and may serve integration and regulation functions through parallel pathways. Future investigations should study these two sub-regions separately.

Ro25-6981 alleviates neuronal damage and improves cognitive deficits by attenuating oxidative stress via the Nrf2/ARE in rats

Xiuxian Gao, Fei Chen, Xinqi Xu, Jinfeng Liu, Fuxing Dong, Yaping Liu

Summary: Oxidative stress is involved in cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury (CIRI), and the NR2B subunit antagonist Ro25-6981 has been shown to improve this condition through the Nrf2/ARE pathway. This study provides evidence for the potential of Ro25-6981 as a promising treatment or preventive agent for CIRI.

Diagnostic accuracy of ultra-low-dose CT compared to standard-dose CT for identification of non-displaced fractures of the shoulder, knee, ankle, and wrist

Mengqiang Xiao, Meng Zhang, Ming Lei, Fenghuan Lin, Yanxia Chen, Jun Chen, Jinfeng Liu, Jingzhi Ye

Summary: This study aimed to compare the performance of ultra-low-dose computed tomography (ULD-CT) with standard-dose computed tomography (SD-CT) for the diagnosis of non-displaced fractures of the shoulder, knee, ankle, and wrist. The results showed that ULD-CT had similar diagnostic accuracy for non-displaced fractures compared to SD-CT, with a lower radiation dose.

The Necessity of Subsequent Dental Treatment for Odontogenic Sinusitis After Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

Xiaochang Zhao, Zufei Li, Jinfeng Liu

Summary: This study investigated the necessity of subsequent dental treatment for patients with odontogenic sinusitis (OS) after endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS). The results showed that without considering the impact of dental disease on patients' oral health, OS can be completely alleviated by ESS alone, even if no dental treatment is carried out after surgery.

Yuan Zhang, Bing Yan, Shen Shen, Xicheng Song, Yan Jiang, Li Shi, Changqing Zhao, Yi Yang, Luyun Jiang, Jiping Li, Jing Ye, Jinfeng Liu, Lijia Wan, Yucheng Yang, Jianjun Chen, Feng Liu, Lizhong Su, Yu Xu, Guolin Tan, Shaoqing Yu, Yu Zhang, Lin Wang, Shengyang Liu, Hongyue Yan, Wei Liu, Bo Chen, Chengshuo Wang, Luo Zhang

Summary: This study evaluates the efficacy and safety of CM310 in patients with severe eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (ECRSwNP). The findings suggest that CM310 can reduce nasal polyp size, alleviate nasal congestion, improve sinus CT scores, and significantly relieve daily symptoms and improve quality of life. CM310 also reduces type 2-related biomarkers. Overall, CM310 is an effective additional treatment option for severe ECRSwNP.

Summary: The main objectives of this study were to investigate valvular involvement in patients with cardiac Behcet's disease (BD) and identify the risk factors of valvular involvement in cardiac BD. The study found that aortic regurgitation was the most common valvular abnormality in BD patients, with aortic valve prolapse, echo-free spaces within the aortic annulus, vegetation-like lesions, and aortic root aneurysm being the main manifestations of severe aortic regurgitation. Additionally, echocardiography was found to be valuable in evaluating and diagnosing valvular involvement in BD patients.
