Summary: When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted health care delivery, telehealth became a near necessity. Temporary telehealth policies were developed, and now there is an opportunity to redefine telehealth and its components. Clear definitions and support for communication and interoperability are important. Consensus on definitions at this critical stage could create consistent expectations of care.

Summary: Implementation research is a multidisciplinary field that focuses on how context influences the delivery of evidence-informed healthcare. Lack of high-quality implementation research is hindering global efforts to scale up life-saving interventions that meet health-related sustainable development goals. Theory in implementation research refers to how interventions interact with local context and actors to bring about change, but there is still a preference for impact evaluations in controlled environments.

Summary: This study aims to report the importance of emotional support from different sources for distressed cancer patients and caregivers, and the proportion of participants who did not receive sufficient support. The results showed that family and friends were considered very important sources of support, followed by nurses and doctors. Insufficient support was reported by 36% of participants. Higher levels of distress, not having a partner, and being a caregiver may require targeted interventions to increase access to emotional support.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the perceptions of Australian early-career general practitioners regarding the utility of their prior vocational training in preparing them for independent specialist practice. The findings showed that in-practice teaching was perceived as more useful for certain components of independent practice, while there was no significant difference for others. These results highlight the importance of recognizing the different educational components in a blended education and training structure.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the prevalence and associations of telehealth consultations versus face-to-face consultations among Australian GP registrars. The results showed that telehealth consultations were shorter, had higher rates of follow-up, were less likely to involve in-consultation supervisor support, but more likely to generate learning goals. This has implications for GP workforce/workload and training.

Summary: This study examines the prevalence and associations of video versus telephone consultations in Australian general practice (GP) registrars' practice. The findings show that telehealth consultations in Australia are mostly conducted via telephone, which is associated with socioeconomic disadvantage. Future research should focus on exploring barriers to videoconferencing use and implementing strategies to increase its uptake.

Summary: This study suggests that external clinical teaching visit (ECTV) performance can predict the performance of general practitioner (GP) trainees in examinations. The findings demonstrate the predictive ability of GP Registrar Competency Assessment Grid (GPR-CAG) scores and suggest that these scores can provide additional predictive value beyond other known predictors.

Summary: This study examined the perceptions of Australian GP registrars on climate change and its relation to public health, education, and workplaces. The results showed that a significant percentage of registrars recognized the future health effects of climate change on their patients and supported integrating climate health impacts into their education program. They also believed that GPs should take a leadership role in promoting environmentally sustainable practices.
