Summary: This study focused on the impact of prescribing clindamycin instead of amoxicillin to penicillin-allergic patients on implant failure rates, revealing a significantly increased risk of failure and infection. The study suggests that penicillin allergy itself may not necessarily be a risk factor for early dental implant failure.

Summary: Prosthetic rehabilitation through dental implants can be improved using implant planning software and digitally designed surgical guides. This systematic review evaluates the success rates, bone remodeling, and possible complications related to guided implant surgery. The results show high implant survival rates, but early failures are common due to lack of osseointegration, and various factors influence implant survival.

Summary: In recent years, implantology has made significant progress, with the development of new alloys, surfaces, and geometries. This review analyzed the clinical differences between zirconia and titanium implants and found no statistically significant differences in fixed or overdenture restorations. However, there were concerns about the rigidity and potential fracture of zirconia.

Summary: This study systematically evaluated the correlation between alveolar bone parameters (bone density and cortical bone thickness) and primary implant stability. The results demonstrated a significant association between alveolar bone condition and primary implant stability. Low bone density and thin cortical bone may result in low primary implant stability.

Summary: This systematic review assessed the risk of postoperative bleeding in oral surgery for implant placement in individuals taking antithrombotics. The meta-analysis showed that the risk of bleeding during implant placement in antithrombotic-treated patients is not substantially higher compared to non-treated patients, with a low absolute risk. Therefore, there is no need to discontinue or alter the dose of antithrombotic treatment for implant placement surgery.

Summary: The aim of this systematic review is to summarize current knowledge on the use of biomarkers extracted from peri-implant crevicular fluid (PICF) as predictors of peri-implant bone loss (BL). A total of 158 entries were initially found, and after a full-text review and assessment of eligibility criteria, nine articles were selected. According to the review, several inflammatory biomarkers harvested from PICF seem to be correlated with peri-implant bone loss and may aid in diagnosing peri-implantitis early. MiRNA expression has shown predictive potential for peri-implant bone loss and may be useful for preventive and therapeutic purposes in implant dentistry.

Summary: This systematic review examined the accuracy of digital implant impressions in clinical studies. Eight publications met the criteria and showed that the accuracy of digital implant impressions in patients was clinically acceptable but varied in terms of deviation. However, the number of clinical studies was limited, and the impact of different factors on accuracy could not be determined.

Summary: The study found that both full and reduced Cariogram models have reliable predictive performance for individual caries increment, with the reduced model showing better predictive performance and less burden to individuals. However, due to insufficient research on other CRA models, conclusions about their performance remain uncertain.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the impact of mucoperiosteal flap elevation for single immediate implant placement on buccal hard and soft tissue changes, as well as clinical, aesthetic, and patient-reported outcomes. Five randomized controlled trials were selected, and the results showed that flapless surgery resulted in better preservation of buccal bone and had significant advantages in terms of vertical buccal bone change and pain. However, the reporting of clinical and aesthetic parameters was insufficient, and the clinical relevance of these findings remains unclear.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review to compare the clinical outcomes of titanium and zirconia implant abutments. The results showed that titanium abutments have better mechanical resistance and slightly higher plaque accumulation but without significant inflammatory process. Furthermore, the esthetic outcomes were found to be more related to the thickness of the soft tissues rather than the abutment material.

Summary: A systematic review was conducted to analyze the association between early implant failure and genetic polymorphisms, revealing that certain genetic polymorphisms may impact the osseointegration process of dental implants, leading to failures. Understanding the relationship between genetic polymorphisms and treatment outcomes is essential for the development of precision medicine in dentistry.

Summary: The objective of this study was to examine the impact of a cognitive stimulation intervention model on patients with mild-moderate Alzheimer's disease using a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment. The study found that the intervention maintained the cognitive performance of the patients in the experimental group in terms of comprehension, visual reproduction copy, and word list recognition, while the control group showed a deterioration in these functions within a 6-month period.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the clinical and esthetic outcomes of the double lateral sliding bridge flap technique with CTG for treating isolated and multiple gingival recessions in the mandibular anterior region. After a mean follow-up of 36 months, the procedure showed significant improvement in recession depth reduction, increased keratinized tissue width, increased gingival thickness, and satisfactory esthetic results.

Summary: The objective of this study was to assess the mechanical characteristics and clinical usefulness of beta-tricalcium phosphate (b-TCP) and hydroxyapatite (HA) bioblocks in edentulous jaws. The results showed that the conical shapes were significantly stronger than cylindrical shapes. Histologic analysis indicated that a majority of the samples were completely resorbed or showed significant resorption. In conclusion, the 80% b-TCP and 20% HA grafts produced by robocasting are suitable for regenerating self-contained defects.

Summary: This study used spectrophotometry to record the initial and several weeks later color coordinates of 13 patients wearing temporary acetal resin dentures. The color change of the temporary acetal resins exceeded the threshold of clinical acceptability and the weeks of follow-up and salivary pH were not able to satisfactorily predict the final color coordinates of the acetal resins.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between sleep bruxism (SB) and sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (SAHS) at a pathophysiological level, along with the associated risk factors, common signs, and symptoms. A systematic search was conducted using various databases and specific keywords, resulting in the inclusion of nine articles. The literature suggests that SB and SAHS coexist in 21.0% to 41.3% of cases, and they share common signs and symptoms. Additionally, they have overlapping risk factors such as advanced age, obesity, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Dentists should be aware of this relationship for early diagnosis as part of a multidisciplinary approach.

Summary: This study evaluated marginal bone loss and complication rates of mandibular overdentures retained on two implants with conventional and immediate loading protocols. The results showed that there was no significant difference in marginal bone loss between immediately loaded and conventionally loaded implants placed for the retention of mandibular overdentures at one year. However, the failure rate was slightly higher in the conventional loading group.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the buccal volume change after using a customized healing abutment with or without connective tissue grafts (CTG) in flapless maxillary immediate implant placement (IIP). Two groups were formed, both receiving a customized healing abutment, and the test group additionally received a CTG. After 1 year of treatment, no significant differences were found between groups, but in participants with a buccal bone thickness (BT) ≤ 1 mm, the control group showed a greater buccal volume variation compared to the test group. The placement of a CTG did not completely maintain the initial peri-implant tissue architecture, but less dimensional changes were observed in thin-bone phenotypes when a CTG was used.

Summary: This study aimed to explore dentists' perceptions towards the implementation of a dental informatics risk assessment tool for peri-implantitis. A convenience sample of seven dentists were presented with the Implant Disease Risk Assessment Tool (IDRA) and their perceptions were evaluated using the System Usability Scale (SUS) and semi-structured interviews. The results showed that the complexity of the clinical case influenced the variation in responses, with participants generally classifying the tool as good, with high usability and learnability scores.

Summary: This review aimed to assess whether sinus pathology is caused by dental pathology or treatment and to determine the frequency of different forms of sinus pathology using CBCT. The results showed that inflammatory diseases were the most common pathological findings, followed by infection, tumors, and high pneumatisation. There was a correlation between dental pathology and polyps, opacification, retention cysts, and sinus-associated dental elements.
