The films showed good properties such as low protein adsorption, good permeability, and sufficient hemo-compatibility. They also exhibited good swelling behavior in phosphate buffer and simulated wound fluids and sustained the release of moxifloxacin for up to 24 hours. The in-vivo study demonstrated that the hydrogel films had good wound healing activity.

Summary: A novel beta molecular sieve/carboxymethyl cellulose/polyvinyl alcohol composite aerogel (beta/CP) is prepared as an efficient gas adsorbent with hierarchical porosity. The synergistic effect between pore structures of different scales improves the adsorption performance, and the CH4 adsorption capacity is comparable to that of the pure beta molecular sieve. The strong interaction between the aerogel and molecular sieve prevents agglomeration and improves pore utilization, making it a promising material for CH4 storage.

Summary: Starch/PVA degradable straws with different PVA contents were prepared using the twin-screw extrusion method. The straws with 40% PVA exhibited the highest dispersion uniformity and molecular interactions, resulting in improved mechanical properties and water resistance. Compared to the straws without PVA, the swelling volume of the 40% PVA straws decreased significantly, and the diameter strength and water absorption were greatly increased.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of polymers on the cracking of particulate coating layers. The addition of polymers increased the drying stress in the layers, leading to cracking. However, different polymer additives had varying effects on the critical cracking thickness, indicating that the properties of the particulate layers varied depending on the polymer. The study also found a strong positive correlation between toughness and the critical cracking thickness of the layers.

Summary: Crosslinking affects the mechanical behavior and tissue metabolism of collagen-based tissues. Aging and diabetes alter the crosslinking type and density, thus changing tissue properties. High-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking and advanced-glycation end-products result in uniform deformation under daily activity, while low-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking does not. High-connectivity model displays more sliding, while AGEs induce instability in structures near the binding sites.

Summary: The potential of multi-layer nanoemulsions for improving the cellular uptake, antioxidant activity, and in vitro bioaccessibility of alpha-tocopherol was examined. The results showed that the multi-layer nanoemulsions significantly enhanced the cellular uptake and antioxidant activity of alpha-tocopherol compared to free coumarin 6. Furthermore, the use of chitosan and dextran sulfate as wall materials in the multi-layer nanoemulsions led to even higher cellular uptake, in vitro bioaccessibility, and antioxidant activity of alpha-tocopherol.
