The research shows that stab-resistant composites prepared using STF and TPU have improved stab resistance performance while maintaining good flexibility. During the preparation process, the shear thickening effect of STF contributes to enhancing the performance of the composite material.
In order to improve the stab resistance of fabrics, needle-punching processing technology is adopted to combine the aramid fabric and the nonwoven fabric. The shear thickening fluid (STF) and Thermoplastic polyurethanes (TPU) are used to compound the sandwich structure stab-resistant composite in different combinations. The stab resistance performance, bursting performance and flexibility of stab-resistant composites have been studied. Studies have shown that the stab-resistant composite impregnated with STF and the stab-resistant composite impregnated with STF and then combined with the TPU coating have a more obvious improvement effect on the stab resistance performance while the flexibility is less reduced. The puncture process is accompanied by the shear thickening effect of STF. The stab-resistant composite impregnated with STF and coated with TPU has a tighter bond between the fibers.
