Summary: Perianal Crohn's disease is a common and debilitating presentation of the disease, and its treatment remains a challenge due to the lack of understanding of its pathophysiology. This review discusses the potential roles of genetic predisposition, mucosal immunity, and gut microbiome in the disease, as well as the contribution of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition to its pathogenesis. Recent advances in animal models and new therapies are also summarized. Future research directions are proposed to improve our understanding and develop novel therapeutic strategies for this condition.

Summary: This paper provides a comprehensive review of the scientific progress made in understanding the changing climate and water systems in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin. The existing literature suggests that the warming rate in the basin is higher than the global average, and there have been changes in precipitation and streamflow. The paper also identifies four research directions for future studies: the impacts of dams on river flow and local communities, the integration of water-energy-food-ecology nexus, the integration of groundwater and human health management with water resource assessment and management, and the strengthening of transboundary collaboration.

Summary: There is a growing interest in community gardens as a response to concerns about food insecurity, loss of biodiversity, pollution, food miles, and climate change in cities. This study reviewed 1090 English language articles on community gardens to identify major themes and gaps in the literature, and found ongoing interest in urbanization, diversity, and health. While earlier research focused on community benefits, recent studies are examining climate change, food security, and ecosystem services. However, important gaps remain in research about agrobiodiversity, uncertain land tenures, and the roles of traditional knowledge in gardens.

Summary: Circular ecosystem is a fast-growing phenomenon where autonomous yet interdependent actors work together to create and deliver circular value propositions to customers. Research shows that ensuring multiple cycles of value and balanced actors are critical aspects of a circular ecosystem. By introducing a framework, we can better understand and articulate the unique features of circular ecosystems.

Summary: The forested swamps in the central Congo Basin store a significant amount of carbon in peat, and their vulnerability to climate change and carbon loss is examined in this study. Analyses of peat cores reveal a pattern of accumulation and decomposition, driven by climate shifts and changes in plant taxa. The results suggest that these peatlands may be near a threshold where increased droughts, potentially caused by human carbon emissions, could lead to significant carbon losses.
