Summary: The development of infrastructure has a positive impact on the economic growth of European Union member states, with certain types of infrastructure, such as ICT, energy, and pipeline transport, significantly contributing to the growth. The development of water and sanitation infrastructure, however, does not significantly affect the economic growth. The quality of government plays a considerable role in the outcomes of electricity production and pipeline transport infrastructure.

Summary: Based on panel data from 31 provinces in mainland China from 2011 to 2021, this paper empirically investigates the impact of digital finance on educational equity. The results show that digital finance has a dynamic effect on educational equity, initially exacerbating educational inequality and later reducing it. The study also finds that digital finance promotes educational equity by alleviating credit constraints for rural residents and narrowing the urban-rural income gap. This paper provides new empirical evidence to the long-standing debate on the digital divide and educational equity.

Summary: Equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines is crucial for ending the pandemic. Disparities in vaccine coverage exist both among low-income and high-income countries, mainly due to limited supply, unequal distribution, production constraints in low-income countries, weak health systems, vaccine hesitancy, and misconceptions. To address this inequity, efforts should focus on expanding COVAX, waiving intellectual property rights, technology transfer, and conducting mass vaccination campaigns.

Summary: This study examines the combined impact of information communications technology (ICT) infrastructure, financial development (FD), and trade openness (TO) on economic growth (EG). The study compares two countries with different income levels and analyzes a total sample size of 85 countries (including 27 low-income and 58 high-income countries) from 2000 to 2019. Various hypotheses are formulated and ordinary least square (OLS) regression, fixed effect regression (FER), and generalized method of moments (GMM) methods are applied. The findings reveal that ICT has a positive individual effect on EG, except for telephone in low-income countries and broadband in high-income countries. Additionally, the joint effect of ICT infrastructure and FD complements the positive impact on EG, while the joint impact of ICT infrastructure, FD, and TO differs between low-income and high-income countries.

Summary: In the presence of circulating Omicron-like variants, increasing vaccination rates for COVID-19 to 30% or 45% in low- and middle-income countries would be cost-effective in terms of saving lives. Increasing vaccination coverage to 60% would further prevent more infections and deaths, but at a higher cost.

Summary: The study explores the negative impact of educational inequalities on Internet use, with the extent of impact varying based on countries' economic development levels. In addition to factors like education level and socioeconomic variables, the distribution of formal education among citizens within a country plays a significant role in explaining Internet use. Interestingly, within-country educational disparities negatively influence Internet use, showcasing the importance of a country's educational structure in relative terms.

Summary: This study re-examines the causality nexus between ICT infrastructure and domestic level of financial development in 19 selected countries in Africa using a frequency domain spectral causality test technique. The findings suggest that for most frequency levels, ICT infrastructure and domestic financial development are completely independent. Additionally, evidence supporting the demand-following hypothesis, supply leading hypothesis, and feedback hypothesis was found for different countries at different time periods.

Summary: Gender plays a significant role in access to and use of forest resources, which are vital for people's livelihoods. Studies have shown strong gender specialisation in commercial access and household consumption of forest resources. However, limitations in the evidence base, including methodological heterogeneity and unequal geographical representation, make it challenging to generalize about the overall importance of gender in access to and use of forests in developing countries.

Summary: This study found that there are educational inequalities in epilepsy mortality in the Baltic countries and Finland from 2000 to 2015, with higher mortality rates in men than women. The mortality rates for epilepsy decreased in all countries for both men and women except for Finnish women. An inverse educational gradient in epilepsy mortality was observed among men, widening from 2000-2007 to 2008-2015, with decreasing rates among higher educated men and increasing rates among low educated men. The gradient remained consistent for women throughout the period.
