Summary: Our study found a correlation between OIP5 expression and immune cell infiltration level in ccRCC. Analysis based on RNA-seq data showed that OIP5 has an impact on immune activity. Additionally, OIP5 was associated with several immunomodulators and involved in multiple immune signaling pathways. We constructed a multiple-gene risk prediction signature, providing a potential target for immunotherapy in ccRCC.

Summary: In this study, a novel method called Tumor-infiltrating Immune Cell Proportion Estimator (TICPE) was introduced to estimate the proportion of immune cells in specific types of cancer. The TICPE, based on relative expression orderings of gene pairs, showed superior accuracy in estimating immune cell proportion compared to other methods, and it was found to be insensitive to batch effects. Additionally, TICPE demonstrated the ability to detect prognostic signals in patients with tumors and changes in immune cell fractions during immunotherapy in melanoma.

This study found that heart disease, diabetes, and cerebrovascular disease were the primary causes of non-RCC-related mortality within the first year after diagnosis, with heart disease becoming the leading cause of death over 5 years after diagnosis. Targeted prevention strategies for non-RCC-related causes of death could significantly reduce mortality for RCC survivors.
