This study proposed different indicators to analyze the issue of innovation imbalance within and between urban agglomerations in China. The research found that the imbalance in innovation development within urban agglomerations is more significant than among urban agglomerations, highlighting the need to promote innovative and coordinated development between regions.
Different indicators, such as the number of patent applications, the number of grants, and the patent conversion rate, were proposed in this study to analyze the issue of innovation imbalance within and between urban agglomerations from a new perspective. First, a preliminary analysis of the current state of innovation and development of China's nine urban agglomerations was conducted. Then the Theil index, widely used in equilibrium research, was employed to measure the overall innovation gap of China's urban agglomerations. The study innovatively used the self-organizing feature map to identify the correlation characteristics of the innovation and development within China's urban agglomerations and visualize them through Geographic Information Science. The research findings show that the hierarchical differentiation of the innovation and development of China's urban agglomerations is becoming increasingly clear, and that the imbalance in regional innovation development is pronounced. The imbalance in innovation development within urban agglomerations is more significant than the imbalance in innovation development among urban agglomerations. The analysis indicated that a possible cause is the crowding effect and administrative standard effect of the central city. The key to addressing this problem is promoting innovative and coordinated development between regions.

Quality characteristics of fresh noodles with low-sodium salt and the underlying mechanisms

Xiaohua Wang, Wei Gong, Yu Chen, Hao Liu, Ying Liang, Jinshui Wang

Summary: The influence of low-sodium salt on noodle quality was studied, and compared with NaCl and KCl. Low-sodium salt increased cooking loss, hardness, chewiness, tensile strength, and fracture distance of noodles. It enhanced water and non-aqueous components interaction, induced oxidation and strengthened chemical bonds of gluten, and changed the microenvironment of gluten molecules. Scanning electron microscopy images showed a more continuous and compact microstructure of low-sodium salt noodles. Some qualities of low-sodium salt noodles were equivalent to or slightly worse than NaCl noodles, but higher than KCl noodles.

Qing Yang, Kunqiang Zhao, Lanjuan Cao, Xiaohua Wang, Qizhe Guo, Xingxing Liu

Summary: The combination of technology and finance has a significant impact on regional social and economic development. Strategic emerging industries, as the convergence of technological innovation and financial support, are of great significance for industrial structure adjustment and improvement of industrial quality. However, the geographical distribution of emerging strategic industries in China is uneven. Thus, this study investigates the input-output efficiency of science and technology finance integration and examines the path of integrated development of science and technology innovation and financial support. The findings reveal the large demand for financial support and obvious regional differences in the development of strategic emerging industries, with the government playing a strong guiding role. Measures and suggestions for the development of strategic emerging industries are proposed accordingly.

Rheological properties of wheat dough mediated by low-sodium salt

Xiaohua Wang, Ying Liang, Qi Wang, Xinlan Wang, Hanyan Li, Jinshui Wang

Summary: In this study, the correlations between dough rheology and gluten aggregation were investigated by analyzing the rheological properties of low-sodium salt dough and the molecular properties of dough gluten. The results showed that low-sodium salt improved the hardness, extensibility, and compression resistance of the dough, and induced the formation of larger protein clusters. The analysis also revealed that low-sodium salt increased the content of certain glutenin subunits and reduced the content of certain gliadin fractions, resulting in the aggregation of gluten. This study provides new insights and a more comprehensive theoretical basis for sodium reduction.

Association of serum N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide levels with survival and renal outcomes among elderly patients with acute kidney injury in chronic heart failure

Jiebin Hou, Xin Zhang, Zhen Wu, Yang Liu, Yabin Zhang, Jiahui Zhao, Xiaohua Wang, Hongyu Chen, Guang Yang, Qiang Ma, Qingli Cheng, Qiangguo Ao

Summary: Elderly patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) have a higher incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI), which can lead to poor prognosis. The relationship between kidney dysfunction and levels of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptides (NT-proBNP) in elderly CHF patients has been analyzed in a retrospective cohort study. The results suggest that a decreased change in NT-proBNP during AKI can reduce the risk of more severe AKI and improve survival outcomes. However, an excessive decrease in NT-proBNP is a risk factor for non-recovery of renal function following AKI, especially in elderly survivors with low baseline NT-proBNP levels.
