Data collected from semi-structured interviews with 26 participants in homeless service programs generated five main themes regarding the meanings of integration, as well as two themes of obstacles and facilitators affecting integration. A new conceptualisation of integration was developed, capturing participants' sense of personal dignity, respect, recognition, and utility within their living environments.

Summary: This study evaluated the dental demands and needs of a homeless population in Rome, Italy. The results showed a high proportion of acute tooth pain, edentulism or missing teeth, and oral lesions among this population. These issues were managed in secondary healthcare facilities. Therefore, it is important to implement strategies for dental evaluation that encompass both preventive and curative approaches to improve access to dental care for people experiencing homelessness.

Summary: This study investigated patterns of neighborhood environment features at locations of fatal overdoses among people experiencing homelessness who use drugs. Over half of fatal overdoses among PEH occurred in supportive housing or shelters, and significant indicators of physical and social disorder were associated with increased odds of experiencing homelessness at the time of fatal overdose.

Summary: Despite the increasing homelessness in the U.S., research on transportation needs and use for persons experiencing homelessness (PEH) has only recently gained attention. This study conducted in-depth interviews with 24 professionals to explore how the decentralization of emergency shelters affected transportation needs and access to services for PEH. The findings highlight the importance of providing transportation on demand, educating on transportation navigation, and increasing transportation funding for homeless service providers and PEH to ensure access to healthcare and social services.

Summary: This study focuses on youth experiencing homelessness and aims to describe their perspectives on COVID-19 vaccination and identify youth-driven strategies to improve vaccine confidence and access. The study identifies several factors that influence vaccine uptake and confidence, including historical harms and mistrust, access to reliable health information, prioritization of basic needs, personal health influence, barriers to healthcare, fear and uncertainty of the vaccines, sense of bodily autonomy, and community influence. The study also highlights the importance of centering youth voice and leveraging trusted sources of information and improving vaccine access to increase COVID-19 vaccination among this population.
