Summary: The taxonomic doubts regarding the two endemic species of Pimpinella in Italy, P. anisoides and P. gussonei, were clarified through the analysis of their carpological characters. Fourteen morphological traits were identified and analyzed using 40 mericarps. The results highlight the significance of 10 morphological traits in distinguishing between the two species, including fruit size, mericarp length, and cross-section area.

Summary: In this study, the complete chloroplast genomes of nine Pimpinella species from China were assembled and analyzed using next generation sequencing. Significant differences were found in genome size, gene number, IR boundary, and sequence identity among the Pimpinella species. The non-monophyly of the Pimpinella species and the distant relationship between the Pimpinella species and Pimpinelleae were confirmed. This study provides a foundation for future phylogenetic and taxonomic studies of the genus Pimpinella.

Summary: Ferula turcica and Ferula latialata are two new endemic species discovered in the central Anatolian region of Turkiye. They are distinct from F. szowitsiana in terms of their morphology, ecological characteristics, fruit size, secondary metabolite profiles, and phylogenetic placement. Phylogenetic analysis of their ribosomal DNA sequences confirmed their evolutionary relationships and proposed conservation status.

Summary: Pimpinella crispulifolia, originally collected in 1906 from Laoguishan in Shilin County, China, was recently rediscovered in Luquan County of Kunming City. Through phylogenetic reconstruction and morphological analysis, it was determined to have an affinity to Slum species of Oenantheae, resulting in a proposed new combination name, Slum crispulifolium.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the anatomy and composition of essential oils from different organs of two Pimpinella species from the central Balkan Peninsula. The results showed similarities in root, stem, and petiole structures, but differences in leaf anatomy and fruit indumentum, with presence of specific chemical compounds in the oils from both species. The occurrence of phenylpropanoids and trinorsesquiterpenes in the oils confirms them as chemical markers for the Pimpinella species analyzed.

Summary: Angelica remotiserrata is a newly discovered endemic species in the Kastamonu provinces of northern Turkey. The species is distinguished from Angelica sylvestris by its distinctive leaf margins, small and non-swollen sheath, larger fruit, and the number of dorsal vittae. Phylogenetic analysis using ITS sequence of ribosomal DNA confirms it as a new species. The study also assessed its relationships with related species and proposed its conservation status.

Summary: Carpological anatomical characters play a crucial role in the taxonomy of Apiaceae, helping to characterize and identify related taxa, although the same characters can be found in distant groups. Standardized descriptions and a list of characters can aid in understanding the significance of these features in taxonomy.

Summary: This study examined the foliar epidermal anatomical characteristics of two endemic Apiaceae species in Korea, Bupleurum latissimum Nakai and Dystaenia takesimana (Nakai) Kitag. Scanning electron microscopy was used to observe the detailed anatomical features, and important characteristics such as epidermal cell shape and size, stomata type, and trichome shape and size were identified for taxonomic differentiation. These findings contribute to the understanding of the classical taxonomy of these endemic plant species.
