Summary: In response to the increasing higher education attainment and expansion of higher education institutions, many countries have started evaluating discipline efficiency to measure performance, promote competition, and allocate resources effectively. This paper proposes a three-stage multi-criteria decision-making method with bootstrapping to assess a discipline's scientific research efficiency from the university-level perspective. The proposed model incorporates contextual variables and random error to ensure robust analysis.

Summary: This paper proposes a stochastic DEA approach to assess the cost and revenue performance of heterogeneous decision making units (DMUs) under uncertain data. The cost and revenue efficiencies under convex metatechnology are measured using cost-based and revenue-based chance-constrained DEA models, providing deterministic frameworks of approaches. Cost and revenue gap ratios and sources of meta-frontier stochastic cost and revenue inefficiencies are also addressed. An empirical study of the banking industry validates the applicability and reliability of the proposed technique.

Summary: This study uses a novel three-stage network DEA model to evaluate the performance of the 14 largest Canadian credit unions from 2007 to 2017 and the impact of various events on this performance. The study finds that there is room for improvement in the production sub-process and the efficiency of individual credit unions varies across different stages. The efficiency of the credit union system declined significantly during the period, mainly due to managerial issues at the revenue generation stage.

Summary: This paper proposes a new model for evaluating the sustainable efficiency of the construction industry, using data from 30 Chinese provincial administrative regions from 2011 to 2016 to calculate and validate the results. The analysis shows a decreasing trend in sustainable efficiency in the construction industry in eastern, middle, and western China, with technical equipment rate and external environmental factors playing important roles in sustainability and CO2 emission reduction potential.

Summary: This study proposes an input-output-oriented linear model in network data envelopment analysis (DEA) to measure the overall efficiency of two-stage decision-making units (DMUs) with shared resources. Comparative analysis shows the superiority of our model over existing models, and an empirical example demonstrates the applicability of our proposed model.

Summary: This paper introduces a new approach for fully ranking decision-making units (DMUs) in DEA models, by utilizing restrictions on virtual weights and solving a super-efficiency DEA model in multiple stages. This method increases the discrimination power of ranking results by allowing decision-makers to have more control over the importance of inputs and outputs.

Summary: Regulation of water companies is important in protecting citizens' interests, as they are natural monopolies. This study proposes a common set weights (CSW) DEA model for efficiency assessment of Chilean water companies, which showed greater discriminatory capacity compared to traditional techniques. The DEA-CSW approach provides reliable ranking of companies based on their efficiency scores, facilitating regulatory decision-making.

Summary: This study develops a new stochastic semi-parametric frontier-based three-stage DEA model that considers the problem of functional form and multicollinearity. The model incorporates the effects of external environmental factors and statistical noise on efficiency and uses the StoNED approach and quasi-likelihood estimation method to estimate parameters. Monte Carlo experiments demonstrate that the new frontier provides more realistic and accurate efficiency measures. An empirical analysis evaluates green economic efficiency in China, comparing different models and showing significant differences caused by external environmental factors. The results have practical implications for the harmonious development of industrial production and a green economy in China.

Summary: This article examines the operational efficiency of the cultural and creative industries using DEA and SFA models. The study reveals that the overall efficiency of the listed cultural and creative industries in China is low. Effective measures and recommendations for improving operational efficiency are also suggested.

Summary: This study utilized a three-stage model to evaluate the efficiency of water pollution control efforts in a city in China from 2003 to 2017. The results indicated a significant improvement in water quality, but the evaluation of control effectiveness was influenced by external environmental and random factors. After adjusting for these factors, the efficiency showed an upward trend, reflecting the true effectiveness of the pollution control efforts.

Summary: The article introduces the widespread application of two-stage network data envelopment analysis (DEA) in evaluating the efficiency of different organizations. However, the existing DEA methods often ignore the coordination effect between the two stages. To address this issue, the article proposes an extended DEA method for measuring the coordination efficiency of general two-stage network systems. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through two numerical examples.

Summary: In a typical two-stage network data envelopment analysis, the outputs from the first stage become the inputs to the second stage. The existing method assumes that the production possibility sets of inputs-intermediates and intermediates-outputs are known, but the 2SN PPS of inputs-outputs is unknown and needs to be constructed. This study proposes a new method to consider the two-stage network as one system and measure the performance of the entire system.

Summary: In this study, Network Data Envelopment Analysis models are used to identify more sources of inefficiency by considering the internal structure of production units. The aim is to assess and improve the performance of Decision Making Units using a two-stage network and a cross-efficiency approach. The main contributions include a new benevolent method in cross-efficiency evaluation and a method for setting inputs and outputs target to improve cross-evaluations.

Summary: This study proposes a new approach to finding the efficiency stability regions of efficient multi-stage production processes using network data envelopment analysis (NDEA). By defining the concepts of 'network-efficient', 'extreme network-efficient', and 'ESR' in NDEA, a linear DEA model is introduced to specify extreme network-efficient two-stage production processes and a DEA approach is proposed to find their ESRs. The research also discusses the managerial and economic implications of finding these ESRs and provides numerical examples and an empirical application to illustrate the proposed approach.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has negatively impacted households globally in terms of social and economic factors. The Malaysian government has implemented stimulus packages to mitigate these effects, with a focus on those most affected by lockdowns. This study developed machine learning models to predict and profile financially vigilant households, using secondary data from the Special Survey on the Economic Effects of Covid-19 and Individual Round 1. The findings demonstrated the effectiveness of machine learning in predicting households' financial vigilance, which can inform the development of future economic stimulus packages.
