The reaction Cr-54 + Cm-248 was investigated at the velocity filter SHIP at GSI, Darmstadt, with the intention to study production and decay properties of isotopes of element 120. Three correlated signals were measured, which occurred within a period of 279 ms. The heights of the signals correspond with the expectations for a decay sequence starting with an isotope of element 120. However, a complete decay chain cannot be established, since a signal from the implantation of the evaporation residue cannot be identified unambiguously. Measured properties of the event chain are discussed in detail. The result is compared with theoretical predictions. Previously measured decay properties of even element super-heavy nuclei were compiled in order to find arguments for an assignment from the systematics of experimental data. In the course of this review, a few tentatively assigned data could be corrected. New interpretations are given for results which could not be assigned definitely in previous studies. The discussion revealed that the cross-section for production of element 120 could be high enough so that a successful experiment seems possible with presently available techniques. However, a continuation of the experiment at SHIP for a necessary confirmation of the results obtained in a relatively short irradiation of five weeks is not possible at GSI presently. Therefore, we decided to publish the results of the measurement and of the review as they exist now. In the summary and outlook section we also present concepts for the continuation of research in the field of super-heavy nuclei.

Summary: This experiment studied the precision of range measurement for positron-emitting carbon isotopes using PET technology in ion beam therapy. The uncertainty of range determination is influenced by PET counting statistics. The uncertainties for C-11, C-10, and C-12 isotopes are 0.7 mm, 0.04 mm, and 1.3 mm, respectively. Compared to C-11, C-10 exhibits better precision due to its shorter half-life, which allows for the inclusion of in-spill data in image formation.

Summary: Experimental determination of proton capture cross sections on radioactive nuclei is challenging, but crucial for understanding the production of p-nuclei. A direct measurement of these cross sections on stored, radioactive ions was achieved for the first time in an energy range relevant to nuclear astrophysics. The method used was sensitive to (p,gamma) and (p,n) reactions in inverse kinematics, which are important for nucleosynthesis processes in supernovae. The cross section of the Te-118(p,gamma) reaction was measured at energies of 6 MeV/u and 7 MeV/u using heavy ions interacting with a hydrogen gas jet target. Preliminary results from the ongoing analysis will be presented, along with an overview of the experimental method.

Summary: Direct lifetime measurements for excited states below previously reported isomers were performed using the FATIMA fast-timing LaBr3(Ce) array via gamma-gamma coincidences. The lifetimes below the I pi = 8+ seniority isomer in the N = 50 semi-magic 96Pd nucleus were studied as a benchmark for further analysis. The results confirm the published values for the I pi = 2+ and 4+ states, with improved accuracy achieved for the 4+ state lifetime.
