Summary: The study found that high NLR before and after radiotherapy was associated with poor survival in patients with anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC), indicating the importance of host immunity in ATC patients. This suggests that this finding may provide important information for designing future investigations on the impact of immune system modulating therapy in ATC.

Summary: This study found that pretreatment neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) can independently predict tumor regression grade (TRG) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy in patients with locally advanced gastric cancer. Patients with high NLR and PLR values may benefit from alternative treatments.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether the pretreatment hemogram parameters and their ratios can predict the endometrial transformation in patients with abnormal uterine bleeding. The study found that age, postmenopausal state, obesity, diabetes, and increased estrogen exposure were risk factors for endometrial atypia and carcinoma. Hemoglobin and hematocrit levels were significantly higher in early and advanced endometrial cancer groups, while platelet value was significantly higher in atypia and carcinoma groups.

Summary: The predictive value of neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) in missed miscarriage was investigated in this study. The results showed that NLR and PLR were not suitable indicators for missed miscarriage, but attention should be paid to mean platelet volume (MPV) in the first trimester.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether the baseline neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) predicts symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (SICH) due to intravenous thrombolytic therapy. However, the results showed that NLR did not provide strong specificity and sensitivity for predicting SICH, and a precise cut-off value could not be found to predict hemorrhagic transformation.

Summary: This study found that platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) were associated with arterial stiffness in patients with diabetes. Among them, NLR showed higher accuracy in predicting arterial stiffness.

Summary: This study revealed a significant correlation between the severity of acute cholangitis and the degree of lymphocytopenia, NLR, and PLR. As the severity of the disease increased, the proportion of patients with normal lymphocyte count decreased, while abnormal findings and NLR and PLR levels increased.

Summary: This study investigated the correlation and predictive value of inflammation-related markers and thyroid function in pediatric thyroid cancer patients. The results indicated that the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) could be a predictor of pediatric thyroid cancer, while thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) was not found to be an independent risk factor for pediatric thyroid cancer.

Summary: This study evaluated the prognostic significance of the preoperative systemic inflammation index, platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in patients with squamous carcinoma of the tongue. The results showed significant associations between these indices and sex, tissue grade, tumor location, and lymph nodes metastases. Patients with lower values of the indices had longer overall survival. Age, lymph node metastases, and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio were identified as independent predictors of overall survival.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed peripheral blood parameters in patients with central nervous system tumors and trigeminal neuralgia, and found that NLR, PIV, and their combinations have high sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of brain tumors, especially gliomas. These findings provide evidence for the use of these convenient and reliable peripheral blood markers.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the predictive value of systemic inflammatory markers in the recurrence of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC). The findings showed that lymph node metastasis and higher monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) were independent prognostic factors for tumor recurrence. An MLR threshold of 0.22 effectively predicted recurrence, allowing for the early identification of high-risk patients.

Summary: This study retrospectively collected baseline characteristics and laboratory findings of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage patients undergoing surgery, and found that high neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) within 48 hours after surgery was an independent risk factor for poor prognosis at 30 days post-operation.

Summary: The research focuses on analyzing the prognostic significance of minimum count of lymphocytes (LY) and the corresponding ratio of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte (NLR) in cervical cancer patients receiving radiotherapy. The study found that patients with higher LY levels and lower NLR values during radiotherapy had better survival prognosis. Factors such as FIGO stage I, absence of lymph node metastasis, and lower NLR values were associated with poorer overall survival and progression-free survival.

Summary: Sigmoid sinus resurfacing surgery is a safe and effective method to treat pulsatile tinnitus, but in some patients, it can cause serious complications and/or persistent tinnitus. Factors such as changes in blood viscosity due to medication intake or increased blood flow due to weight loss may influence the persistence of the tinnitus in individual patients.

Summary: This study investigated the long-term prognosis of sudden hearing loss and found that factors such as age, initial hearing level, and recovery grade were associated with prognosis. Most patients showed stable or slightly improved hearing levels after two months of treatment. This study highlights the importance of long-term follow-up and counseling for patients with sudden hearing loss.
