Summary: The study found that patients with R-ABF showed cardiovascular adrenergic impairment, orthostatic hypotension, blood pressure lability, and elevated plasma norepinephrine in standardized autonomic testing. Cardiovagal impairment was more common, while sudomotor deficits were limited to direct radiation effects.

Summary: Individuals with familial cerebral cavernous malformation (FCCM) have a high seizure incidence, with those having more cerebral cavernous malformations or CCM3 genotype at greater risk. Seizures increase health care utilization in FCCM patients.

Summary: Multiple sensor theory (MST) explains how lung mechanosensors and cardiovascular (CV) sensors operate by detecting sensor-specific mechanical information and interacting with each other. This theory has advanced our understanding of the respiratory and CV systems, resolving numerous controversies and providing evidence for its application.

Summary: This study found that natriuretic peptides (NPs) have effects on baroreflex afferent function, leading to reduced blood pressure and enhanced baroreflex sensitivity. These effects were more pronounced in female rats and may be related to abnormal expression of NPs and NPRs. NPs could be potential targets for clinical management of metabolic-related hypertension.

Summary: Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is a genetic condition that leads to vascular malformations in the brain, spinal cord, and lungs, resulting in neurologic complications. This case highlights the diagnosis of a brain abscess in a previously healthy 3-year-old boy, which was caused by a pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM). Screening for PAVM with contrast-enhanced echocardiogram or enhanced CT of the chest should be considered in patients with cryptogenic brain abscess or recurrent embolic stroke of unknown origin.

Summary: The treatment for chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI) has shifted to an endovascular-first approach, but technical failure (TF) after endovascular intervention can result in poor limb salvage and wound healing. Secondary bypass may not always be successful in rescuing patients after TF.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of Piezo1 channel activation on gender- and afferent-specific blood pressure regulation in rats, revealing the important role of Piezo1 channel in regulating blood pressure through enhancing the release of neurotransmitters in the pressure reflex pathway under physiological and hypertensive conditions. The study also provides compensatory research on the expression and synergistic mechanisms of Piezo2 at different levels of the pressure reflex afferent pathway.

Summary: This study identified different FEV1 trajectories among individuals with and without airway obstruction, and found that the decline in FEV1 and mortality varied among these trajectories. The FEV1 trajectories and the relationship between low FVC and trajectory outcome in individuals with airway obstruction are of particular clinical interest.

Summary: The study aimed to assess sex differences in the efficacy and safety of baroreflex activation therapy in heart failure patients. Women had poorer baseline quality of life than men but showed similar improvements with therapy. Women had a significant improvement in NT-proBNP levels, while men did not.

Summary: Iron deficiency and anaemia are common in chronic heart failure patients, with high rates of incidence and resolution. Persistent or incident iron deficiency is associated with higher mortality, while resolution of iron deficiency is associated with lower mortality. Anaemia, even if resolved, is still associated with poor outcomes.

Summary: There is little understanding regarding the long-term natural history of melanocytic nevi among adults. This study aimed to describe the long-term natural history of individual nevi located on the torso of high-risk patients. High-risk patients acquire new nevi throughout life with very few nevi disappearing over time. Contrary to prior reports, most nevi in adults increase in diameter, while few nevi shrink.

Summary: This study aims to compare the efficacy of 8-week and 12-week treatment of sofosbuvir/velpatasvir in non-cirrhotic patients with chronic HCV infection. The findings will provide insights into whether a shorter treatment duration can improve treatment compliance, reduce cost, and facilitate public health implementation.
