With the increasing number of device implantations worldwide, the need to train physicians in the implantation of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators is growing. Despite international recommendations for device indications and programming, there is currently no consensus on implantation techniques. This document, based on a systematic literature review and consensus from an international task force, aims to establish standards for device implantation to address this gap.
