Summary: This study investigated the interaction between different dietary patterns and various health parameters in a Greek population with obesity and metabolic disorders. The findings suggest that dietary patterns characterized by high consumption of energy-dense and animal-derived foods are positively associated with anthropometric and biochemical parameters related to metabolic disorders. On the other hand, plant-based, healthier dietary patterns are associated with better biochemical and mental health profiles among metabolically unhealthy obese individuals.

Summary: The study found that higher adherence to the Mediterranean dietary pattern in older Spanish individuals with overweight or obesity and high cardiovascular disease risk was associated with better cognitive performance over a period of 2 years. Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) on the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS) in response to lifestyle changes. The results showed that patients with lower probability of NAFLD were more responsive to adherence to an energy-restricted Mediterranean Diet (er-MeDiet) and physical activity (PA), leading to positive effects on physical HRQoL.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the associations between carbohydrate quality, gut microbiota, and cardiometabolic risk factors in an elderly Mediterranean population. The results found that higher carbohydrate quality was associated with increased gut microbiota diversity, certain genera abundance, and beneficial metabolic outcomes. These findings suggest that a better quality of carbohydrate intake is linked to improved metabolic health and may be influenced by specific gut microbiota.
