Summary: This research assessed the perspective of energy transition in marginalized urban areas in Romania by analyzing 37 local development strategies and using maps of renewable energy resources and marginalized communities. The findings showed that communities in marginalized areas had limited interest in renewable energy, which could be attributed to low awareness and education levels. Based on the results, an education program on solar energy solutions and a roadmap for potential energy projects in marginalized urban areas were proposed.

Summary: A lack of data collection on conscious mobility behaviors in sustainable and smart mobility planning leads to technocentric solutions that overlook the importance of people's behavior. This paper presents the concept of conscious mobility and proposes a framework for leveraging behavioral considerations in urban-community mobility systems. Case studies from different global urban contexts reveal key factors and metrics for conscious mobility analysis. The framework incorporates various dimensions and is expected to contribute to smarter and more sustainable urban mobility decision-making.

Summary: This study provides a comprehensive understanding of energy consumption and CO2 emissions for different vehicle technologies in real driving cycles. By developing universal correlation functions and a submodel, researchers are able to accurately determine energy consumption and CO2 emissions in different traffic conditions. The results show that using more efficient electric and hybrid vehicles, as well as ethanol-powered vehicles, can significantly reduce CO2 emissions.

Summary: This study comprehensively evaluates the simplification of building energy models and finds that single-zone models for multi-story residential buildings give similar results to multi-zone models. Higher levels of detail in building models can improve result accuracy. Simplified models give acceptable results for district-level analysis.

Summary: The sustainability of energy produced and consumed in urban environments faces challenges due to the social, economic, and environmental impacts associated with fuels used for powering cities. A Framework for Assessing Urban Energy Sustainability (FAUES) has been proposed to address this issue, which involves defining critical indices and integrating historical data and forecasted parameters. This framework was implemented in Brazil as a case study to evaluate energy sustainability in cities lacking social inclusion, economic stability, and environmental protection.

Summary: This work explores location-privacy preserving location updates in data-centric people mobility applications by annotating an urban area with city networks and utilizing concepts like weak location k-anonymity and strong location k-anonymity to enhance location anonymity. Algorithms are used to test anonymity violations and selectively block requests in the online stage, with a focus on privacy/utility trade-offs addressed through extensive experimental evaluation.

Summary: This study focused on the application of the concepts of absorptive coping, adaptive, and transformative abilities in urban adaptation plans and local development strategies, showing a tendency towards absorptive capacity in the former and more of a transformational approach in the latter. However, the need and method for long-term deep transformation of urban systems were not clearly indicated in these plans.

Summary: This paper provides recommendations for the sustainable development of future automated and connected transport (ACT) systems in Romania. It investigates the factors that influence mobility behavior related to ACT systems and finds that there is currently a poor focus on ACT systems and spatial patterns in Romania show premises for unsustainable mobility behavior. The study also shows that Romanian citizens have similar perceptions to citizens from other countries and maintain an orientation towards unsustainable individual travel in terms of the future use of AVs. The recommendations primarily address spatial and attitudinal factors to avoid unsustainable mobility behavior.
