Summary: This study aimed to explore the mediating effect of self-efficacy on aspects of social support and self-management behaviors in patients with knee osteoarthritis. The results showed that perceived social support had a partial mediating effect on self-management behaviors through self-efficacy. Therefore, interventions to increase self-efficacy and social support could enhance self-management behaviors in this population.

Summary: This cross-sectional study examined the mediating role of self satisfaction in the relationship between sense of coherence, family sense of coherence, and psychological distress. The results showed that sense of coherence, family sense of coherence, and self satisfaction were negatively correlated with psychological distress, and that sense of coherence and family sense of coherence were positively correlated with self satisfaction. Self satisfaction fully mediated the relationship between family sense of coherence and psychological distress, and partially mediated the relationship between sense of coherence and psychological distress.

Summary: This study aims to explore the effect of perceived social support on college students' autonomous fitness behavior, and the mediating role of mental toughness and exercise self-efficacy. A survey was conducted with 985 college students, and the results showed that perceived social support can directly and positively predict autonomous fitness behavior, mental toughness, and exercise self-efficacy. Likewise, mental toughness can directly and positively predict exercise self-efficacy. Furthermore, the study revealed the chain mediating effect of mental toughness and exercise self-efficacy in the positive effect of perceived social support on autonomous fitness behavior.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the direct effect of social support and the mediating role of self-esteem on the social adaptation of left-behind children (LBC) in mainland China. The results showed that LBC had significantly lower subjective support, support-seeking behavior, self-esteem, and social adaptation than non-left-behind children (NLBC). Social support significantly and positively predicted LBC's social adaptation, and self-esteem partially mediated this relationship. These findings provide important insights for the development and interventions for LBC's social adaptation.

Summary: COVID-19 had negative effects on the mental health of college students, with academic stressors being a major factor. However, social support, social well-being, and self-identity were found to be protective factors. This study showed that academic stressors had a direct positive correlation with mental health, but this relationship was mediated by social support, social well-being, and self-identity. Furthermore, work stressors also played an important role in determining mental health during the outbreak.

Summary: This study assessed the symptom burden among hemodialysis patients and found new predictors such as self-management, sense of coherence, and social support that were negatively associated with the overall burden of symptoms. The regression analysis revealed that 48.6% of the variance in symptom burden could be explained by factors like meaningfulness, emotional management, daily urine output, subjective support, gender, and manageability.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence and risk factors for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in a rural area in western China with severe air pollution. A cross-sectional study was conducted, and 10% of local residents aged 40 years and above were included using a convenience sampling method. The screening program identified a high prevalence of COPD, with older age, male sex, smoking history, family history of respiratory disease, lower education level, overweight, and obesity identified as independent risk factors. The screening program was found to be effective in earlier detection of COPD in rural health-care settings.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the effects of multicomponent exercise on quality of life, depression, and anxiety in stroke survivors. The results showed that multicomponent exercise, especially those with exercise sessions longer than 60 minutes, significantly improved the quality of life of stroke survivors, but did not have a significant effect on depression and anxiety.
