Summary: This study examines the characteristics of ambient seismic noise in SE Canada and the NE USA, using a large dataset and back-projection technique. The analysis explores the azimuthal and temporal variations of the ambient noise, and proposes a new method to analyze the signal-to-noise ratios. The study also investigates the directional and seasonal variations of seismic noise across different passbands.

Summary: The pathogenesis of testicular germ cell tumours (GCTs) is still unknown. A recent study suggests a possible seasonal variation in incidence rates based on Vitamin D levels, but a German study found no evidence of such variation in 30,988 GCT cases.

Summary: This study characterized the variations in practices and outcomes for neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) treated with therapeutic hypothermia (TH) across Canadian tertiary Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs). The results showed significant variations in mortality and brain injury rates among the NICUs, as well as variations in the use of inotropes, inhaled nitric oxide, blood products, and feeding during TH.

Summary: The study found no seasonal variation in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) incidence rates, but demonstrated seasonal variations in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) incidence rates by birth month. AML incidence rates were significantly lower in patients born in January-April compared to those born in May-December.

Summary: The valorization of microalgal biomass during wastewater treatment can mitigate treatment costs and create an energy surplus. In this study, biomass obtained from pilot photobioreactors for tertiary wastewater treatment was used to produce biogas. The results showed that the implementation of this system could reduce energy consumption by 20% and contribute towards meeting the EU's decarbonization targets.

Summary: The 4-Poster Tick Control Deer Feeder (4-poster) device can reduce the population of blacklegged ticks by applying acaricide to white-tailed deer. A survey of residents from 16 high Lyme disease incidence counties in Connecticut and New York showed that 37% of respondents support placing 4-poster devices on their own property, 71% support placement on other private land in their community, and 90% support placement on public land.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of seasonal variations on the incidence and mortality of SARS-CoV-2 in the Northern and Southern hemispheres. The results show that the highest number of cases and deaths occurred during the winter and autumn seasons, while the lowest occurred in spring and summer. Additionally, there was a significant difference between the Northern and Southern hemispheres in terms of case numbers and deaths.

Summary: This study critically reviewed current knowledge on the assessment of newborns with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). It found that assessment tools for NAS in newborns are subjective, leading to a shift towards structured assessment and intervention methods. Research on NAS biomarkers and their impact on incidence and severity was highlighted in the study.

Summary: This study assessed the improvement and retention of resuscitation skills in nurses, midwives, and birth attendants in rural Indian birth centers using high-frequency, low-dose training. The intervention group showed lower need for resuscitation and better knowledge retention compared to the control group. This supports the efficacy of the high-frequency, low-dose education model in this setting.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of early-life pain/stress and medical characteristics on neurobehavioral outcomes in preterm infants. The results showed that acute and chronic pain/stress in the first 12 days of life had a negative impact on neurobehavioral outcomes. Gestational age and maternal breastmilk intake were significant predictors of better neurobehavioral outcomes.
