With billions of devices connected via the Internet, opportunities for smart applications increase tremendously. Unfortunately that is also the case for the risks. This means that security and privacy of the Internet of Things are aspects that need to be addressed timely and thoroughly. This briefing paper points out that when designing and implementing infrastructures and applications a number of questions need to be answered in order to take well-founded decisions.
