Fibrinogen/AKT/Microfilament Axis Promotes Colitis by Enhancing Vascular Permeability

Chong Zhang, Honglv Chen, Qiaoling He, Yiqin Luo, Andong He, Ailin Tao, Jie Yan

Summary: The study found that fibrinogen is upregulated in the colon of DSS-treated mice and in patients with ulcerative colitis. Inhibition of fibrinogen significantly alleviated DSS-induced colitis. Fibrinogen regulates colitis by modulating vascular permeability through activating AKT and depolymerizing microfilament, suggesting it as a potential target for anti-colitis treatment.
