Summary: This study validated self-reported moderate-to-vigorous physical activity against an accurate device-based method in Namibia, showing fair agreement between accelerometry and questionnaire-defined tertiles of MVPA. The PACE+ and GPAQ questionnaires have a degree of validity in adolescent girls and adult females in Namibia, though more suitable for population than individual level measurement.

Summary: This study examined the validity of the IPAQ-LF in community living adults with post-stroke sequelae and found it to be acceptable for estimating total PA time in individuals who are insufficiently active. The questionnaire could be a useful tool to screen for inactive individuals with chronic stroke who may benefit from interventions to improve their physical activity levels.

Summary: This study investigated the validity and acceptability of three different physical activity measurement methods for people with mild cognitive impairment or dementia. The quantitative analysis showed equal completion rates for the International Physical Activity Questionnaire and the accelerometer but a lower completion rate for the calendar, with moderate or strong correlations between outcome measures. Qualitative analysis indicated that all measures were acceptable, and using accelerometers and completing calendars might increase motivation for some individuals.

Summary: This study investigated the physical activity levels of working women in Singapore two years into the COVID-19 pandemic and found that only a small percentage achieved a health-enhancing level. The study also identified significant factors such as work mode, living arrangement, and health-promoting lifestyle that influenced physical activity levels. These findings highlight the importance of promoting health among working women.

Summary: This study explores the presence of different physical activity trajectories in a population-based cohort and their association with mortality. The results showed that maintaining a moderate level of physical activity was associated with a lower risk of all-cause mortality, while a decline from high levels of physical activity did not show a significant difference in mortality risk compared to consistently low levels.

Summary: This study validated the IPAQ and CSBQ against accelerometry in parents-to-be, finding strong correlations for total physical activity (TPA) but differences in reporting among sexes. It is cautioned to use caution when estimating TPA and sedentary behavior using self-reports in this population, as there were discrepancies in the reporting of physical activity among different intensity levels between males and females.

Summary: The study aims to assess the concurrent validity of the SENS-motion(R) accelerometer system for device-based measurement of physical activity and sedentary behavior in healthy children and adolescents. The results show strong agreement between SENS and observation for walking time, sedentary time, and lying time, while moderate agreement was observed for number of steps, sitting time, and time with and without arm movement. The ICC values were overall moderate to excellent, indicating good concurrent validity.

Summary: The effectiveness of nudging healthy food choices in an online supermarket was evaluated in a randomized controlled trial. Information nudges were found to significantly increase healthy product purchases for shoppers in deprived areas, while showing adverse effects for those in non-deprived areas. Further research is needed to explore the real-life effects of online healthy food nudging and its equitability within populations.

Summary: This qualitative study explores the barriers and facilitators of implementing the Dynamic Work intervention. The results show that barriers to implementation include lack of information, delayed delivery of equipment, large group sizes, employee workload and tasks, and ongoing reorganization. Facilitators include working culture and financial support, as well as the role of managers and alignment among implementers.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a theory-based and evidence-informed Dutch walkability index and examine its cross-sectional associations with adult walking behaviors. The results showed that the walkability index was associated with walking behaviors, with public transport density being the driving factor. Additionally, the associations with non-discretionary walking were stronger in rural areas, low socioeconomic status neighborhoods, and middle-aged adults.

Summary: This feasibility study evaluated the acceptability and potential effects of culturally tailored dance on physical activity and social cognitive determinants among South Asian women in the Netherlands. The results showed that cultural appropriateness and non-competitiveness were the main reasons for participation. On average, participants spent a considerable amount of time in physical activity and had increased step counts. At follow-up, there was an increase in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity and step counts, along with a decrease in light physical activity, and positive shifts in some social cognitive determinants.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate when adolescents stop using mobile health interventions, why they report nonusage attrition, and which intervention components prevent nonusage attrition. The results showed a high nonusage attrition rate, especially among adolescents in the nonacademic educational track. The main reasons for nonusage attrition included perceiving no behavior change, disliking the app, having a sufficiently healthy lifestyle, using other apps, and lack of motivation from the environment. Increasing the use duration of the self-regulation and narrative components in the early stages of the intervention can reduce attrition.

Summary: This study investigates the adherence to dietary guidelines and its determinants among individuals with varying socio-economic backgrounds using quantitative and qualitative data. The results show that cognitive restraint, habit strength of vegetables, and cooking skills are positively associated with adherence to dietary guidelines. Qualitative data reveal the influence of food prices, dietary habits, and the social aspect of eating. The findings can inform future interventions promoting healthy diets across populations.

Summary: In this study, the contribution of smoking to the differences in cardiovascular disease incidence between men and women was investigated. The findings showed that smoking had a higher impact on CVD incidence in men overall, but the contribution of smoking was higher among women in the Dutch population. The study also revealed that smoking had varying effects on CVD risk disparities between men and women in different ethnic groups.

The findings showed that the count of food stores was associated with higher diet quality, while the count of restaurants was associated with lower BMI. Summary: This study aimed to explore the relationship between food insecurity, fast-food outlet exposure, and dietary quality in disadvantaged neighborhoods. The results showed that food insecurity was associated with lower dietary quality, while fast-food outlet density did not have a significant impact on dietary quality. However, the association between food insecurity and dietary quality may be influenced by the food environment.
