Summary: Recent research has investigated infectious diseases caused by resistant bacteria. Ofloxacin, a quinolone antibiotic, has been used to combat resistant microorganisms through various routes of administration. This study explored the formulation of ofloxacin in a transdermal polymeric form to target skin infections, reduce drug toxicity, and avoid first-pass metabolism. The study utilized techniques such as HPLC, FTIR, Franz cells diffusion, and UV spectroscopy to investigate physical characterization, drug release and diffusion, drug matrix association, and antimicrobial assay. The results showed successful drug release from polymeric formulas containing a high ratio of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC), with a maximum drug release of 53%. The sustained release patches effectively inhibited microbial and biofilm growth, with a percentage inhibition of over 90%.

Summary: This study demonstrates the surface modification of fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) with sodium phytate doped PANI without any binder for use as a novel current collector in symmetric supercapacitor devices. The electrode without a binder exhibited higher electrocatalytic efficiency, leading to an efficient energy storage device with high specific capacities and excellent cycling stability. The supercapacitor showed remarkably high gravimetric energy and power density, remaining stable as power density increased, highlighting its potential for practical applications.

Summary: Polybenzopyrrole synthesized in surfactant-supported acidic medium showed significantly enhanced thermal stability and electrochemical properties, with a maximum specific capacitance of 166.0 +/- 2.0 F g(-1) and excellent cycle stability of 87% after 5000 cycles at a current density of 1 A g(-1). The results suggest that polybenzopyrroles are competitive electrode materials for next-generation Faradaic supercapacitors, with high-power density and energy density. The findings of this study can also be easily applied to other systems for the synthesis of advanced hybrid/composite Pbp-based electrode materials.

Summary: The electrochemical behavior of a poly(aniline-co-2-hydroxyaniline) (PACHA) coated gold electrode for methanol electrooxidation in alkaline media was investigated. The results show that the PACHA coated electrode can reduce the overpotential for methanol oxidation and increase the Faradic current. In addition, the efficiency of methanol electrooxidation is influenced by the concentration of the base.

Summary: This work presents a one-pot oxidative polymerization method for synthesizing integrated conductive polyindole/nickel oxide, polyindole/zinc oxide, and polyindole/nickel oxide/zinc oxide composites. The synthesized polymers were extensively analyzed for their composition and physical as well as chemical properties. The electrochemical performance of the polymers as electrodes in symmetrical supercapacitors was evaluated, with the ternary polyindole/nickel oxide/zinc oxide composite demonstrating the highest charge storage capability. The high performance is attributed to its nanofibrous structure and high crystallinity. These findings provide new electrode materials for advanced supercapacitor technology.

Summary: In this study, novel composite materials based on POT polymer were produced by emulsion polymerization and one pot blending techniques using tungsten (IV) oxide (WO2), cerium (IV) oxide (CeO2), and iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3). UV-Vis analysis confirmed various electronic transitions in the materials and FT-IR spectra showed the integration of reinforcement particles within the polymer matrix. SEM analysis described the diverse morphology of the synthesized materials and their complete dispersion in the polymer matrix. Cyclic voltammetry studies revealed the materials' potential as electroactive agents with reversible anodic and cathode peaks, as well as good electrical and storage properties. The materials hold promise for electrode and capacitor production technologies.
