Summary: A regulation method based on environmental law is proposed to promote the sustainable development of bay ecosystem. Taking the coastal bay area in Fujian Province as the research object, the energy loss in this area was assessed from three aspects and an objective index system was established. The evaluation of Gulf ecosystem was completed, providing reference for ecosystem management. By using the proposed management and regulation method, pollution can be effectively controlled and a stable downward trend can be maintained.

Summary: With increasing anthropogenic stress, monitoring and assessing the condition and pollution levels of ecosystems has become increasingly important. This paper combines theoretical ecology, information theory, semiotics, and the study of complex systems to develop a theoretical foundation for bioindication that takes into account the complex nature of ecosystems. The relationship between the bioindicator and the variables of interest is regarded as one of structural coupling, and biomonitoring schemes for bioindication are seen as cases of second-order observation. These theoretical findings are highly relevant for the development of machine learning methods for bioindication.

Summary: This study derives the maximum error-free transmission rate of a symmetric ADC in a noisy channel and proves that the composite function is convex on the set of non-negative real numbers. Previous studies only provided numerical results for small values, but as low SNR is a major application area for one-bit ADCs, it is important to provide a concrete proof of convexity on small SNR values.

Summary: Entropy is a concept that emerged in the 19th century, associated with heat harnessed by thermal machines during the Industrial Revolution. The 20th century saw a scientific revolution due to the innovation of information theory, which includes the concept of entropy. Misconceptions exist regarding the concept of entropy in different fields, as attempts have been made to reconcile the entropy of thermodynamics with that of information theory.

Summary: The recent discovery of a link between generalized Legendre transforms and non-dually flat statistical manifolds reveals the fundamental reason for the prevalence of Renyi's divergence and entropy in various physical phenomena. However, the nature of this relationship and its implications for physical systems are still not well-understood. This study sheds new light on the Legendre transform by exploring its deformation through symplectic geometry and complexification, providing a unified and principled understanding of physical systems that are not well-described by traditional information-theoretic quantities.

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of carbon quota allocation rules in China's pilot carbon emissions trading regions and how to achieve optimal product prices and effective allocation of carbon emission reduction profits in a cooperative supply chain. The results show that increasing carbon prices can improve retail prices under the auctioning rule. However, the growing low-carbon awareness of consumers does not always lead to higher wholesale and retail prices. Under the free carbon quota allocation rules, the optimal wholesale and retail prices under the Stackelberg game are consistently higher than those under the Nash equilibrium. Additionally, the auctioning rule is more effective in reducing carbon emissions compared to free allocation rules.

Summary: This paper examines the smooth and sharp structural changes in crude oil price volatility and evaluates the performance of GARCH models based on these changes for forecasting. The empirical results show that the flexible Fourier form (FFF) GARCH models, which consider smooth shift, accurately capture structural changes and outperform traditional GARCH models in fitting and forecasting. The Markov regime switching (MRS) GARCH model, incorporating regime switching, performs better in fitting but not necessarily in forecasting compared to single-regime GARCH models. Overall, FFF-GARCH models outperform MRS-GARCH models in forecasting crude oil price volatility and portfolio performance.

The empirical results indicate that the flexible Fourier form (FFF) based HAR-type models and the Structural Breakpoints (SB) based HAR-type models yield superior forecasting performance than traditional HAR-type models, particularly for short- and medium-term forecasts.

Summary: Consolidating and expanding poverty alleviation while reducing carbon emissions is a key issue in China. The Chinese Certified Emission Reduction (CCER) trading programme serves as a supplementary mechanism to China's carbon trading market. In this study, the poverty reduction effect of CCER trading on rural areas was investigated using data from 1782 counties in China from 2006 to 2017. The findings show that CCER trading has increased per capita net income of rural residents by at least 2.5% annually, with a greater effect in poor counties and regional differences.

Summary: A study finds that the imports dependency of China has decreased from 27% to 14% between 2007 and 2020, but its impact on the embodied energy consumption in final demands remains unresolved. By employing environmentally extended input-output analysis and structural decomposition analysis, this research explores the effects of import changes. At the national level, the input imports effect contributes about 15% to the growth of embodied energy consumption, while the demand imports effect contributes no more than 5%. At the sectoral level, the input imports effect occurs mainly through the metals sector from the supply side, but mainly through the electrical and optical equipment sector from the demand side. The study also identifies critical supply chains that can facilitate the input imports effect, and highlights the sectors through which the demand imports effect primarily occurs.

Summary: This paper examines the impact of the digital economy on urban carbon emissions, including digital industrialisation, industrial digitalisation, and digital governance. The results show that digital development in Chinese cities reduces urban carbon emissions, and this result is robust. Further investigation reveals that industrial digitalisation and digital governance are the foundations of carbon reduction effects. Finally, there is significant regional heterogeneity in the impact of China's digital development on urban carbon emissions, with greater potential for emissions reduction in less developed regions and carbon trading policy helping exploit the digital emissions reduction potential in developed regions.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of corporate environmental information disclosure (EID) on green innovation in China's heavily polluting industries during 2009-2020 and the moderating effect of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) visibility. The results show that corporate EID increases green innovation, and CEO visibility strengthens the positive impact of corporate EID on green innovation. The study also finds that the leverage effect, not crowding-out effect, contributes to the green innovation fostered by EID. Moreover, state-owned, large, and established enterprises benefit more from the promotion effect of EID on green innovation and the positive moderating effect of CEO visibility.

Summary: Using panel data of 278 Chinese cities from 2004 to 2017, this study investigates the impact of China's producer services agglomeration on green economic development and examines the moderating effects of relevant industrial and environmental regulation policies. The results show that producer services agglomeration promotes China's green economic development through industrial structure upgrading and green technology innovation. The development zone upgrading policy and command-and-control carbon emissions reduction policy can strengthen the positive impact of producer services agglomeration on the green urban economy, while the carbon trading policy does not affect its green economic effect during the sample period.
