Differences in Associated Factors of Sedentary Behavior by Diabetes Mellitus Status: A Nationwide Cross-Sectional Study

Summary: This study aimed to identify lifestyle and comorbidity factors associated with sedentary behavior in individuals with and without diabetes mellitus. Excessive alcohol drinking and cardiovascular disease were independently associated with sedentary behavior in individuals with diabetes, while cancer and past smoking were independently associated with sedentary behavior in individuals without diabetes. Obesity, insufficient aerobic exercise, smoking, and arthritis were consistently associated with sedentary behavior regardless of diabetes status.

Regional urbanicity levels modify the association between ambient air pollution and prevalence of obesity: A nationwide cross-sectional survey*

Summary: Based on a nationwide survey, this study evaluated the associations between fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentrations with the prevalence of obesity and abdominal obesity. The results showed that increased levels of PM2.5 and NO2 were associated with higher prevalence of obesity and abdominal obesity. People in rural regions experienced stronger adverse effects than those in urban regions, and lower night light index values amplified the associations of PM2.5 and NO2 with obesity and abdominal obesity.

Prevalence and correlates of suicide planning and attempt among individuals with suicidal ideation: Results from a nationwide cross-sectional survey

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of suicide planning and attempt among individuals with suicidal ideation, as well as their associations with sociodemographic characteristics, mental disorders, adverse childhood events, and prior suicidal behavior. The results showed that the prevalence of suicide planning and attempt were 17.7% and 10.6% respectively, with over 80% occurring within a year of the suicidal ideation. Suicide planning was more likely among those with mood disorders, while suicide attempt was more likely for those who were currently married, had lower educational qualifications, history of anxiety disorders, history of emotional neglect, and parental separation.

A nationwide online survey of 5,441 Japanese physicians was conducted, revealing that physicians in general medicine, general surgery, psychiatry, and pediatrics had the highest levels of empathy. Factors associated with higher empathy levels included being female, holding managerial positions, working in small hospitals, and working with children.

Dyslipidemia and the Prevalence of Hypertension: A Cross-Sectional Study Based on Chinese Adults Without Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

The cholesterol index and non-HDL-C were identified as independent risk factors for hypertension prevalence.

Effect of a quality improvement intervention with safety-based checklists for perinatal health of hypertension disorders in pregnancy

Intra-Annual Growth and Its Response to Climatic Factors of Two Salix Species under Warm Temperate Environment

Summary: Monitoring the cambial activity and intra-annual growth dynamics of two willow species, Salix babylonica and Salix matsudana, revealed similar wood formation processes. Salix babylonica exhibited wider xylem increment and higher growth rate compared to Salix matsudana. Both temperature and water availability played important roles in influencing xylem growth, with Salix matsudana being more sensitive to temperature changes.
