Summary: A novel combination of dilute sulfuric acid with Tween 80 pretreatment was developed to enhance enzyme digestibility of corn stover. The synergistic effects of H2SO4 and Tween 80 efficiently removed hemicellulose and lignin, resulting in significantly increased saccharification yield. The physical and chemical characteristics of the pretreated corn stover were studied, and the repeatedly recovered pretreatment liquor showed highly-effective reusability for at least four cycles.

Summary: A PEGylated Tween 80-functionalized chitosan-lipidic nano-vesicular hybrid was developed for intranasal administration to improve the oral bioavailability of metoclopramide hydrochloride (MTC). The stability and release of the nanovesicles were optimized using Draper-Lin Design. The optimized MTC-loaded nano-vesicular in-situ gel formulation demonstrated improved bioavailability, bypassed hepatic metabolism, and enhanced brain targetability compared to other formulations.

Summary: Conversion of major ginsenosides into minor ginsenoside Rg3 and compound K (CK) was achieved through optimal acidolysis conditions. The physicochemical properties of ginsenoside nanoemulsions were evaluated by the WPI/Tween 80 ratio. The incorporation of Tween 80 as a co-emulsifier improved the encapsulation efficiency and physicochemical stability of WPI-stabilized ginsenoside nanoemulsions, which may improve its bioaccessibility.

Summary: The addition of the chemical surfactant Tween-80 increased the temperature in the composting process and effectively promoted the degradation of lignocellulose and reduced phytotoxicity. Adding 0.35% Tween-80 significantly reduced the C/N ratio, accelerated the degradation of cellulose and hemicellulose, and improved the seed germination index of compost products.

Summary: The study suggests that utilizing a consortium of sponge symbiont bacteria is a feasible and promising approach for degrading PAHs. In experiments with anthracene and pyrene, the consortium was effective in degrading both compounds, with pyrene showing a lower degradation rate. The degradation products mainly consist of alcohols, aldehydes, carboxylic acids, and a small proportion of aromatic hydrocarbon components.

Summary: Highly water-soluble fluorescent polyaromatic-based imidazolium compounds have been reported to detect a wide range of nitroaromatics in aqueous solution with fully quenched fluorescence. Increased affinity and sensitivity towards nitrophenols were achieved by enhancing the hydrophobicity and pi-pi stacking of the probe.

Summary: A comparative stability study was conducted to investigate the oxidative degradation tendencies of surfactants polysorbate 20 (PS20) and polysorbate 80 (PS80) at different concentrations stored for 48 weeks at varying temperatures. PS80 showed stronger degradation and earlier onset of oxidation compared to PS20, with significantly less oxidative processes observed at higher PS concentrations. Iron impurities, oxygen in the vial headspaces, and the pH values of the formulations were identified as main contributing factors to accelerate PS oxidation.

Summary: This study investigated the roles and combined effect of oxidant, activator, and surfactant in the remediation of historically contaminated soil with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The results showed that the combination of oxidant and activator had the highest removal efficiency of PAHs, while the addition of surfactant inhibited the transport of oxidant and reduced the removal efficiency of PAHs.

Summary: Microspheres loaded with magnetite nanoparticles were developed in this study, and their biological safety and cell damage were evaluated through a series of in vitro assays. Results showed no significant impact on cellular functions at certain concentrations, and successful immobilization of bovine serum albumin on the microspheres was achieved. This work provides insights into the in vitro biological behavior and safety of developed microspheres.

Summary: This study demonstrates that Tween 80 can enhance the conversion of anthracene in laccase medium system, with over 95% conversion to anthraquinone achievable within 12 hours when Tween 80 concentration exceeds a certain threshold. Additionally, the presence of Tween 80 increases laccase activity in the system, facilitating the degradation of anthracene.
