Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the effects of different types of crop residues as bedding materials on broiler growth performance, carcass traits, health, welfare, and air quality. Using clover straw or cornstalks as alternative bedding materials may be a beneficial strategy for rearing broilers, improving growth performance and welfare. By analyzing various parameters, it was found that certain bedding materials led to lower ammonia concentrations and better feed conversion ratios in broilers.

Summary: This study found that hairdressing tools in both rural and urban areas in the United States release nickel, which contributes to the high prevalence of contact dermatitis among hairdressers. Cheaper tools are more likely to release nickel. These findings highlight the need for clinicians to consider occupational nickel exposure when assessing patients with allergic contact dermatitis, emphasize the importance of using barrier protection, and support the implementation of legislation regulating common allergens.

Summary: The increasing use of technological devices for diabetes management has led to a higher risk of developing contact dermatitis. However, there are currently no universally accepted recommendations for managing this complication. Our study aimed to describe the various methods employed by patients and caregivers to treat and prevent contact dermatitis, as well as to assess the clinical impact of this condition. We found that while there were diverse treatment and prevention measures used, a significant proportion of patients did not achieve complete resolution of the skin issue and had to discontinue therapy.

Summary: A retrospective analysis of North American Contact Dermatitis Group data from 1994-2016 revealed that patients with eyelid dermatitis were more likely to be female, white, and over 40 years old, with a higher prevalence of hay fever, atopic dermatitis, or both. Allergic contact dermatitis was a common primary diagnosis among these patients.

Summary: Patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) are at increased risk of experiencing mental health problems, including depression and anxiety. However, there is limited knowledge about the assessment and association of these affective symptoms in MS. Further research is needed to improve diagnosis and care.

Summary: The awareness and use of canine quality of life (QOL) assessment tools in veterinary practice in the UK is low. Although most veterinary professionals are willing to use these tools, lack of time and potential resistance from owners are barriers to their use. This study suggests that QOL assessment tools are not well disseminated to veterinary professionals and that various barriers inhibit their use.

Summary: In this study, the impact of hand eczema on Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) was investigated using a disease-specific questionnaire. The results showed that hand eczema has a high prevalence and negatively affects overall health status. It is therefore necessary to provide targeted prevention for high-risk groups and support and treatment for those most affected.

Summary: A retrospective cross-sectional analysis of North American Contact Dermatitis Group data from 1996 to 2016 revealed that isolated scalp involvement was less likely to be associated with allergic contact dermatitis than when adjacent anatomic sites were involved. Multiple diagnoses, including seborrheic dermatitis, irritant dermatitis, and other dermatoses, overlapped frequently in patients with scalp conditions.

Summary: This study found that factors such as shorter dosing duration, eye drops containing benzalkonium chloride, intraocular pressure index, and history of ocular surgery were closely related to the occurrence of periorbital dermatitis. The group without benzalkonium chloride had a lower rate of PD, and the history of ocular surgery and changes in visual field index were associated with the occurrence of PD.
