Summary: A multiscale pharmacokinetic model was developed to study the absorption kinetics of subcutaneously injected biological products, providing insights into the presystemic clearance by the lymphatic system. The local absorption rate was found to be influential on the systemic exposure of albumin and nineteen monoclonal antibodies, suggesting a correlation between stability propensities and presystemic clearance, as well as the influence of electrostatic charges on local absorption rates. The study emphasizes the importance of experimentally determining biophysical characteristics of large molecules and biomechanical properties of human skin tissues.

Summary: Resveratrol, a polyphenol with various pharmacological activities, faces limitations in clinical efficacy due to its low solubility/permeability, light-induced isomerization, auto-oxidation, and rapid metabolism. Nanoencapsulation systems, including liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles, lipid nanocarriers, micelles, nanocrystals, inorganic nanoparticles, nanoemulsions, protein-based nanoparticles, exosomes, macrophages, and red blood cells (RBCs), have shown promising potential in enhancing the solubility, biocompatibility, and therapeutic efficacy of Resveratrol. This review comprehensively summarizes recent advances in Resveratrol nanoencapsulation and proposes strategies to improve pharmacokinetics, enhance targeting, reduce toxicity, and increase drug release and encapsulation efficiency. The article emphasizes the need for in vivo testing of Resveratrol nanoformulations in a wide range of diseases to ensure safety.

Summary: Anemia caused by iron deficiency is a global public health problem. Various nano/micro-carriers, such as emulsions, liposomes, hydrogels, and spray-dried microcapsules, have been developed to encapsulate iron and address the challenges of iron fortification in foods. These carriers can reduce interactions with food components, increase iron absorption, and minimize adverse effects. This review article discusses the factors influencing iron bioavailability, introduces emerging carriers, and explores their applications in food supplements and products, highlighting their advantages and limitations in delivering iron.

Summary: The number of lipophilic drug candidates in pharmaceutical discovery pipelines has increased, leading to the need for improved formulation strategies. In this study, self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery systems (SNEDDS) were used to enhance the oral bioavailability of cannabidiol (CBD). The results showed that the SNEDDS formulations led to more rapid absorption and improved systemic exposure of CBD compared to traditional oil-based formulations.

Summary: In this study, saponin-rich fraction (SRF) from Ziziphus spina-christi was used to prepare SRF-loaded nanophytosomes, which showed high toxicity on B16F10 melanoma cells but decreased cytotoxicity on L929 fibroblast cells. The results suggest that SRF from Z. spina-christi has anticancer activity, and the saponinosomes prepared in this work may have potential in controlling tumor growth and reducing side effects.
