Summary: Gestational glucose intolerance (GGI), an abnormal initial gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) screening test without a GDM diagnosis, is associated with an increased risk of future diabetes. Individuals with GGI have a higher risk of developing diabetes compared to those with normal glucose tolerance during pregnancy. Routine clinical data can be used to identify this unrecognized group who may benefit from enhanced diabetes screening and prevention.

Summary: The study found an association between height and gestational diabetes (GDM) diagnosis and complications during pregnancy, with shorter women more likely to be diagnosed with GDM, and GDM being more strongly associated with complications such as preterm delivery and higher birthweight among taller women.

Summary: Gestational diabetes in obese women is associated with elevated levels of specific lipids related to de novo lipogenesis, which are also correlated with measures of offspring adiposity. These findings suggest that the effects of GDM on neonatal body composition may not be solely due to hyperglycemia, but may involve other pathways.

Summary: In pregnant women with diabetes risk factors, fasting glucose levels decrease in the first trimester while post-load glucose levels increase later in pregnancy. These findings could help establish criteria for diagnosing hyperglycaemia early in pregnancy.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the association between oGTT performed after 28 weeks and the risk of T2DM. The results showed that late oGTT had lower rates of GDM and T2DM. However, once GDM was diagnosed, regardless of oGTT timing, the risk of T2DM was increased.

Summary: We aimed to determine the upper and lower cutoff values to simplify the diagnosis of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). By investigating OGTT results, we found the cutoff values for confirming and excluding GDM, and discovered a method to simplify the diagnostic steps.

Summary: The implementation of WHO 2013 criteria for diagnosing GDM significantly increases the number of diagnoses, with newly diagnosed women at higher risk for adverse pregnancy outcomes. The risk for newly diagnosed women, however, appears to be lower than that identified by the WHO 1999 criteria.

Summary: This study investigated the seasonal variation in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in Central-Eastern Europe and found that the prevalence of GDM was lower in spring compared to other seasons. Mothers who underwent an oral glucose tolerance test in high insolation months had a higher incidence of GDM. Regression analysis showed a significant association between seasonal patterns and GDM prevalence.

Summary: This study aims to identify predictors of insulin therapy in women diagnosed with GDM during pregnancy. Positive predictors include elevated fasting result on an OGTT, previous birth weight greater than 90th percentile, previous diagnosis of GDM, being born in South Asia, the 2-hour OGTT result, BMI, and age. The final predictive model had an area under the ROC curve of 0.744, informing counseling for newly diagnosed women with gestational diabetes.

Summary: This study showed that tissue adhesive is superior to conventional suture for repairing first-degree perineal tear in terms of pain reduction and recovery time. Skin adhesive is an ideal method for first-degree perineal tear repair, especially in non-hospital settings such as home birth or midwifery-led centers. Further research on a larger scale is necessary to establish its feasibility for second- and third-degree tears repair.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the impact of MRKH syndrome on affected Malaysian women. Through qualitative study with a quantitative component, the research identified 7 themes including delayed diagnoses, doctors' roles and attitudes, gender identity, family and society's response, reaction toward infertility, managing sexual intimacy, and coping mechanisms. The importance of a multidisciplinary approach and adequate information and sexual education was highlighted in managing MRKH effectively.

Summary: This study aimed to describe the experience of managing high-risk women for spontaneous preterm birth using the Arabin pessary at UKM Medical Center. The majority of women were Malay, with the main indications for pessary insertion being previous mid-trimester miscarriage and early preterm birth. Early insertion of the pessary and close monitoring led to favorable outcomes in preventing spontaneous preterm birth.

Summary: The majority of pregnant women demonstrated adequate knowledge and good practices regarding COVID-19, with factors such as higher education, employment status, higher household income, and multiple sources of information being independent predictors of sufficient knowledge. Women with sufficient knowledge had a more positive perception of the Movement Control Order and better obstetric care experience, with younger and nulliparous women showing higher levels of anxiety. Providing extra support and reassurance may benefit first-time mothers during the pandemic in alleviating maternal anxiety.

Summary: The pathophysiology of pre-eclampsia involves oxidative stress and inflammatory response, leading to endothelial cell injury and multi-organ dysfunction. Aspirin is used to reduce risk, but lacks antioxidant effects. Tocotrienols, with strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, show promise in preventing pre-eclampsia and associated features like hypertension and ischemic injury. Further clinical trials are warranted to assess their efficacy.

Summary: This exploratory study aimed to evaluate the effects of antenatal corticosteroids on neonatal respiratory outcomes in singleton pregnancies of Asian women prior to elective cesarean section at early term. The results showed that early term elective cesarean section was associated with a modest overall incidence of neonatal respiratory illness in this Asian population, and antenatal dexamethasone did not reduce the need for respiratory support, NICU admission, and length of stay for infants.

Summary: The study found that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Malaysian women experienced increased psychological distress, with prevalence rates of depression, anxiety, and stress at 17.2%, 25.1%, and 0.9% respectively, resulting in an overall distress prevalence of 27.8%. Factors such as low education level, unemployment, income loss, and hospital admission for surgical procedures were significantly associated with higher psychological burden.
