Summary: Comparing pair programming with pair CAD in the design field, we found that different working styles have an impact on speed and quality of design work. The study shows that pair work with a single shared input in CAD leads to higher-quality models, while individuals may be faster but can experience coordination and overhead inefficiencies. Choices regarding work process have a major effect on design outcomes.

Summary: Forensic facial image comparison based on recognition algorithms has been widely used in forensic science. This paper proposes a dual-systems model and utilizes Bayesian networks as the basic framework. Experimental results show that the likelihood ratio performance of the dual-systems model is better than a single system, and the method of model building and evaluation can also be applied to multiple systems.

Summary: Based on data on Chinese listed companies from 2007 to 2020, we find that strategic alliance membership has a positive association with future excess cash holdings. Compared to non-allied firms, alliance membership increases excess cash holdings by an average of RMB 128.86 million (or US$ 19.95 million). In firms with more severe manager-shareholder agency problems, this positive relationship is stronger, but it weakens in firms with better corporate governance and an improved institutional environment. Foreign alliance partners and external equity and debt finance cash are the main factors contributing to increased cash holdings in allied firms. Internal interests also motivate managers to hold excess cash in strategic alliances.

Summary: The research found that there is significant enhancement of within-group neural synchronization in cooperative learning, especially during the consensus-building stage. The enhancement of neural synchronization can predict learning outcome at an early stage after learning initiation. In addition, social factors such as social closeness are related to learning engagement and reflected in neural synchronization.

Summary: Matchmaking is introduced in coworking literature as a way to connect potential collaboration partners using a smartphone application. Personal innovativeness plays a role in accepting software support for finding matches. Coworkers see matchmaking as an opportunity for help, learning, and building relationships, with perceived usefulness being the main factor influencing acceptance.

Summary: This study proposes a novel complex spectral mapping approach with a two-stage pipeline for monaural speech enhancement in challenging acoustic scenarios. By decoupling the problem into multiple sub-problems and utilizing methods such as auxiliary networks and global residual connections at different stages, superior performance is achieved.

Summary: This study examined the influence of various factors on the performance of distributed two-person driver-navigator teams in a challenging simulated driving task. Results showed that teams had fewer collisions than individuals under normal conditions but drove slower under fog conditions. The quality and quantity of communication also had an impact on team performance.

Summary: In the 1950s, combinational chemotherapeutics gained attention for the simultaneous usage of different anticancer drugs to reduce cancer mortality. However, concerns about toxicity and multidrug resistance hindered their widespread adoption. Nanotechnology has emerged as a solution to counter these issues and improve efficacy in cancer treatment compared to non-nanotherapy approaches. The present review provides updated information and a holistic overview of nanoparticle-based co-delivered therapeutics, including current progress and challenges.
