Summary: The study evaluated the correlation between MetS and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), finding that MetS was associated with larger AAA size and higher rupture rate, while non-MetS group had higher survival rate. Additionally, a higher prevalence of MetS was observed in the diabetes mellitus (DM) group, but no significant differences were found in rupture and survival rates between DM and non-DM groups.

Summary: This study evaluated the predictive value of calcification for AAA progression. The results showed that increased calcification can stabilize the aortic aneurysmal wall and slow down the expansion of AAA. This finding may have important implications for rupture risk, mortality, morbidity, and healthcare costs.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the healthy eating index-2015 (HEI-2015) and abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) in US adults. The results showed that higher HEI-2015 scores were associated with lower AAC scores and a decreased risk of having AAC. Specifically, a higher intake of fruits, greens, and beans was linked to lower AAC scores. These findings suggest that greater adherence to the 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, as assessed by HEI-2015, may be beneficial for preventing vascular calcification and cardiovascular disease among US adults.

Summary: Abdominal aortic calcifications are highly prevalent in the general population and increase with age. Risk factors include traditional cardiovascular risk factors and decreased bone mineral density. Abdominal aortic calcification is shown to be a predictor of arterial stiffness, cardiovascular events, and mortality.

Summary: Slice thickness and display field of view can impact abdominal aortic calcification (AAC) score measurement. The study compared AAC scores using different reconstruction protocols and found that the parameters have a significant impact on the quantitative assessment. Overall, the study shows the importance of reconstruction parameters in standardized AAC scoring.

Summary: Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and dementia have similar epidemiological profiles and common pathogenic mechanisms. This study found that AAA patients have an increased risk of developing dementia, regardless of Alzheimer's disease or vascular dementia, even after adjusting for several comorbidities.

Summary: In this study, we identified five immune-associated candidate hub genes (BEX2, SPRY2, CXCL16, ITGAL, and MORF4L2) for diagnosing aortic valve calcification (AVC) with metabolic syndrome (MS) using gene expression analysis and machine learning algorithms. The nomogram and all five candidate hub genes showed high diagnostic values.

Summary: The study showed that IL-12 may be an early diagnostic indicator for sarcopenia in the elderly population, while TGF-beta is associated with sarcopenia. Low muscle strength and gait speed were negatively associated with IL-12, and higher levels of IL-12 were significantly linked to reduced occurrence of sarcopenia.

Summary: The study found that participants with 5-7 ideal cardiovascular health metrics had a odds ratio of 0.74 for developing hearing loss after 10 years compared to those with 0-2 ideal metrics (95% CI, 0.59-0.93, p=0.01). Among the cardiovascular health metrics, having an ideal smoking status may reduce the odds of hearing loss development; the odds ratio was 0.72 (95% CI, 0.58-0.89, p=0.003).

Summary: The study aimed to investigate whether a higher number of ideal cardiovascular health (CVH) metrics is beneficial for reducing the risk of proteinuria. The results showed that a higher number of ideal CVH metrics was associated with a lower risk of proteinuria, with ideal blood pressure, fasting glucose, and BMI having beneficial effects. Lower sodium intake was also associated with a lower risk of proteinuria.

Summary: Our study of 15,608 participants found that individuals who rated their health as poor or very poor had decreased odds ratios for ideal cardiovascular health metrics, while those with improved self-rated health had increased odds for ideal cardiovascular health metrics. This suggests that changes in self-rated health may accurately reflect changes in cardiovascular health metrics, providing valuable epidemiological evidence for future public health strategies targeting cardiovascular disease.
