The study focused on inactivation methods, environmental survival, and control and prevention strategies of SARS-CoV-2. Results indicated that alcohol-based hand rub can efficiently deactivate the virus, and the virus may survive under different environmental conditions for 4 to 72 hours. Temperature and humidity were identified as important factors for virus survival, while hand washing and social distancing were recommended as key strategies for prevention. More research is needed to address potential airborne transmission.
Recently, an outbreak of a novel human coronavirus which is referred to as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) (COVID-19) by the World Health Organization (WHO) was identified in Wuhan, China. To help combat the pandemic, a systematic review (SR) was performed to collect all available studies concerning inactivation methods, environmental survival, and control and prevention strategies. A comprehensive literature survey yielded 42 eligible studies which included in the SR. The results confirmed that the WHO recommended two alcohol-based hand rub formulations (ethanol 70-95% and 2-propanol 70-100%) had an efficient virucidal activity in less than 60 s by more and equal 4 log(10)(>= 99.99) approximately and could be used for disinfection in public health and health-care facilities. The findings indicated that SARS-CoV-1 and SARS-CoV-2 can survive under different environmental conditions between 4 and 72 h approximately. The results also demonstrate that temperature and relative humidity are important factors in the survival of SARS-CoV-2. The main strategies recommended by the WHO to avoid contracting SARS-CoV-2 are hand washing several times in the day and maintaining social distancing with others. It is important to note that the more studies require addressing, the more possible airborne transmission due to the survival of SARS-CoV-2 in aerosols for 3 h approximately. We hope that the results of the present SR can help researchers, health decision-makers, policy-makers, and people for understanding and taking the proper behavior to control and prevent further spread of SARS-CoV-2.

Summary: The study found that atmospheric particulate matter pollution may affect the transmission of the novel coronavirus, but it has not been confirmed to accelerate its spread. Other meteorological and environmental parameters also play a role in this process.

Summary: This study evaluated the quality of hospital indoor air in detecting SARS-CoV-2, with no virus detected in air samples taken 2 to 5 meters away from the patients' beds. It is suggested that airborne transmission may not have much effect on the pandemic, although results could have been impacted by patients being hospitalized in negative pressure rooms.

The possible oxidative stress and DNA damage induced in Diclofenac-exposed Non-target organisms in the aquatic environment: A systematic review

Summary: Diclofenac exposure in aquatic environments can lead to oxidative stress, cytogenotoxicity, and DNA damage in non-target organisms, with definitive evidence of adverse effects. The use of biomarkers for assessment can serve as an early warning signal for monitoring pharmaceutical presence in the environment. Therefore, caution is required in using diclofenac and developing advanced treatment technologies to prevent the release of such contaminants into aquatic environments.

Summary: This study investigates environmental surface contamination in different hospital wards, finding positive samples on commonly touched surfaces such as patient bed handles, nursing stations, toilet door handles, cell phones, patient toilet sinks, toilet bowls, and patient's pillows. The study also reveals that SARS-CoV-2 can survive on inanimate surfaces after disinfection by ethanol 70% and sodium hypochlorite (0.001%).

An updated systematic review on the maternal exposure to environmental pesticides and invoved mechanisms of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) progression risk in children

Summary: This systematic review aimed to determine the association between maternal exposure to environmental pesticides during pregnancy and the risk of ASD progression in children. The results showed that prenatal exposure to environmental pesticides increases the risk of ASD, and the main potential mechanisms include ROS and prostaglandin E2 synthesis, AChE inhibition, voltage-gated sodium channel disruption, and GABA inhibition. The study also suggested that the use of pesticides near residences may enhance the prevalence of ASD.

Efficient sonocatalytic degradation of orange II dye and real textile wastewater using peroxymonosulfate activated with a novel heterogeneous TiO2-FeZn bimetallic nanocatalyst

Zahra Noorimotlagh, Mahboobeh Dehvari, Seyyed Abbas Mirzaee, Neemat Jaafarzadeh, Susana Silva Martinez, Ali Amarloei

Summary: TiO2-FeZn nanocatalyst combined with sonolysis was used as a highly efficient advanced oxidation process (US/TiO2-FeZn/PMS) for the decoloration of orange II dye (OII) and real textile wastewater. Under optimal experimental conditions, the decolorization and COD removal of textile wastewater were 99.9% and 74.6%, respectively, at 40 min. The TiO2-FeZn/PMS/US process exhibited a higher removal of OII (95%) compared to the TiO2 NPs/PMS/US process (54%). The recyclability study showed that the process could be reused up to three consecutive cycles.

The role of polybrominated diphenyl ethers in the induction of cancer: a systematic review of insight into their mechanisms

Mahdieh Azizi, Sanaz Mami, Zahra Noorimotlagh, Seyyed Abbas Mirzaee, Susana Silva Martinez, Nasrin Bazgir

Summary: Environmental pollution caused by persistent organic pollutants (POPs), such as polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), has posed a risk to human health and wildlife. This systematic review investigated the association between environmental exposure to PBDEs and cancer progression. The findings suggest a positive correlation, but more research is needed to fully understand the mechanisms and side effects.
