Summary: In this study, blood samples from newly kidney transplanted patients and patients who underwent biopsy were analyzed to evaluate the effectiveness of dd-cfDNA in diagnosing rejection, monitoring treatment, and predicting long-term outcomes. The results showed that dd-cfDNA outperformed creatinine in diagnosing rejection and high levels of dd-cfDNA were associated with non-increasing eGFR one year after transplantation.

Summary: This study mapped the quantitative trait loci (QTL) controlling shelling percentage (SP) in peanut using a mapping population. Two stable major QTL were identified, which explained a significant proportion of phenotypic variation. These QTL provide an opportunity for fine mapping of genes controlling SP and offer potential for genetic improvement of SP in peanut.

Summary: This study identified two major QTL for shelling percentage in peanut, qSPA07.1 on chromosome A07 and qSPA08.2 on chromosome A08, which can provide opportunities for genetic improvement. Combining the favorable alleles of these QTL can significantly increase shelling percentage.

Summary: The Korean Medication Algorithm Project for Depressive Disorder (KMAP-DD) is an expert consensus guideline for depressive disorder created in 2002 and has undergone four revisions. This study examined the changes in the KMAP-DD survey content and recommendations for each period. The results showed that in mild depressive symptoms, antidepressant (AD) monotherapy was preferred, but in severe depression or with psychotic features, a combination of AD and atypical antipsychotics (AD + AAP) was preferred.

Summary: Iterative re-analysis of NGS results is important for published research cohorts of rare diseases. In this study, a cohort of 152 families with developmental disorders was revisited and re-evaluated using updated diagnostic guidelines and scoring system. Clinically relevant changes were identified in 18% of the families, including re-classification of previously reported variants and identification of new disease-causing variants. The study highlights the need for re-evaluation of screening studies and recommends a screening procedure that can quickly identify new variants.

Summary: Children born to single mothers and children of ART-treated mothers have a higher morbidity and consume more specialist care than children of married/cohabiting and spontaneously pregnant mothers. Children born to mothers of advanced maternal age have a lower hospital and outpatient visits rate, but are more often diagnosed with certain chapters of diseases in the neonatal period.

Summary: This research examines how young women understand and navigate their early-career status in the male-dominated creative communication industry. Interviews with 31 women in their early years of their communication careers provide insights into the role of professional relationships in their transition and career development. The findings suggest that cultivating strong professional relationships is crucial for young women to position themselves for leadership opportunities.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the target depth of nasopharyngeal temperature probe insertion in children by measuring distances on magnetic resonance imaging. The results showed that height had the strongest correlation with insertion depth, and a formula of 40.8 + height [cm] x 0.32 could achieve the target position in 67% of cases. Categorizing height ranges and corresponding insertion depths also achieved similar probabilities.

Summary: Progressive chronic, non-malignant diseases are becoming increasingly relevant in primary care, with patients experiencing severe symptoms, reduced quality of life, and more hospitalizations. Outpatient palliative care has been shown to reduce hospitalization rates by up to 50%. Early interprofessional care planning is necessary due to the complex medical conditions and uncertain prognosis of these diseases. The KOPAL study aims to test the effectiveness of a SPHC nurse-patient consultation followed by an interprofessional telephone case conference.

Summary: Clinical trials, as a continuation and application of basic medical research findings, make a significant contribution to medical research by promoting the translation and application of medical knowledge. They help establish a healthcare system that meets the needs of patients and operates efficiently in the long term, while adhering to national, European, and international regulatory requirements. In academia, clinical trial centers within institutions play a crucial role in providing the multidisciplinary expertise necessary for the success of investigator-driven clinical trials.
