Summary: In the context of papillary thyroid carcinoma, miR-181a-5p has been found to directly regulate the expression of SLC5A5, potentially reducing the efficacy of radioiodine treatment. This suggests that miR-181a-5p could serve as a promising target to enhance the efficacy of radioactive iodine therapy.

Summary: In this study, we found that miR-204-5p is down-regulated in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) tissues. The levels of miR-204-5p in the serum of PTC patients were associated with PTC risk, and the expression was lower in patients with both PTC and benign lesions compared to those with only PTC. Furthermore, miR-204-5p inhibited proliferation, migration, invasion, and cell cycle progression, and induced apoptosis in PTC cells. We identified AP1S2 as a target of miR-204-5p. Overall, miR-204-5p functions as a suppressor for PTC pathogenesis via the miR-204-5p/AP1S2 axis.

Summary: In this study, circ_PSD3 was found to be upregulated in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), promoting cell proliferation, metastasis, and inhibiting apoptosis by regulating the miR-637/HEMGN axis and activating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. The circ_PSD3/miR-637/HEMGN signaling axis may serve as a potential therapeutic target for PTC.

Summary: This study analyzed the dysregulated profile of circular RNAs (circRNAs) in papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) tissues and found that circAGTPBP1 was upregulated and correlated with tumor characteristics. The downstream targets of circAGTPBP1 were identified as miR-34a-5p and NOTCH1. Functional experiments showed that circAGTPBP1 knockdown inhibited PTC cell migration, invasion, and metastasis, and miR-34a-5p inhibitor reversed these effects. CircAGTPBP1 knockdown also inhibited tumor growth in vivo, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic target for PTC.

Summary: In this study, circRNA high-throughput sequencing was used to identify alterations in circRNA expression levels in PTC tissues. circTIAM1 was found to be upregulated in PTC and associated with apoptosis, proliferation, and migration of PTC cells. Mechanistically, circTIAM1 acted as a sponge of microRNA-646 and functioned in PTC by targeting miR-646 and heterogeneous ribonucleoprotein A1. These findings highlight the oncogenic role of circTIAM1 in PTC and suggest its potential as a therapeutic target for PTC progression.

Summary: This study presents a rare case series of synchronous occurrence of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) and papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) in the same thyroid gland. The synchronous MTC/PTC were classified into 4 subtypes and the clinical and pathological aspects as well as the results were presented.

Summary: PTC is the most common endocrine malignancy, causing a relatively heavy burden on financial costs, human health, and quality of life. Emerging research has shown that circRNAs play a significant regulatory role in PTC, although the functions and mechanisms of circRNAs derived from SSU72 remain unknown.

Summary: The study revealed that miR-29b-3p was significantly downregulated in PTC tissues, and its decreased expression was strongly associated with the TNM stage of PTC patients. Overexpression of miR-29b-3p inhibited migration, invasion, proliferation, and EMT of PTC cells.

Summary: This study confirmed the up-regulation of circ_0062389 in PTC, which was associated with tumor size and positive lymphatic metastasis. Knocking down circ_0062389 could inhibit the proliferation, migration, and EMT process of PTC cells, with miR-1179 identified as a downstream molecule of circ_0062389.
