Summary: This study investigated the effect of a trunk-oriented 10-week resistance training programme on dental professionals. The results showed a significant reduction in pain intensity and improvement in trunk muscle isometric contraction. This suggests that the training programme can be used as a preventive measure against musculoskeletal disorders in dental professionals.

Summary: This study analyzed the posture of oral and maxillofacial surgeons using RULA and found that their working positions put them at high risk for musculoskeletal strain, particularly in the wrists and hands, elbows, lower arms, and neck. The first dental quadrant of their work caused the most unfavorable postures for the surgeons.

Summary: This study explores the prevalence and risk factors of work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) among dental students in Saudi Arabia. The findings reveal that the prevalence of WMSD among dental students is high, with males and those with prolonged clinical sessions being at greater risk. It emphasizes the importance of awareness campaigns and policies in reducing WMSDs among dental students.

Summary: Despite their young age and short duration of practice, dental students are already experiencing musculoskeletal disorders (MSD). The study found that MSD in dental students is mainly related to poor posture during dental work, with the highest ergonomic risk observed in body parts such as the wrists, neck, and trunk. More focus on theoretical and practical ergonomics in dental education is necessary to reduce the occurrence of MSD.

Summary: The prevalence of musculoskeletal pain (MSP) is high among Chinese medical and dental students, especially for neck pain and low back pain. Female sex, stress levels, and major of study are risk factors for MSP. Students have a low intention to seek treatment for MSP, which is determined by the severity of pain.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between musculoskeletal complaints and postures among pathologists in laboratories. It found a high prevalence of MSDs in neck, wrist, upper back, and lower back. The RULA grand score was higher in participants with upper back and shoulder pain, and a significant relationship was found between RULA score and different types of pain, as well as weekly working hours.

Summary: Traditional ergonomic risk assessment tools may not be sensitive enough to evaluate optimized work routines. In this study, kinematic data captured by inertial sensors were used to compare two work routines in dentistry. Significant differences were observed at more complex levels of analysis, highlighting the benefit of an objective and detailed ergonomic analysis compared to manual assessments.

Summary: This study aims to associate kinematic variables with functional assessment results among walkable subjects with chronic stroke using inertial sensors and walk test. The average walking speeds and modified gait symmetry index were found to be valuable parameters for inertial sensors in clinical research to deduce neuromotor and functional assessment results. The findings have practical implications for the application of inertial sensors in telemonitoring and telerehabilitation.

Summary: The study aimed to describe the prevalence and factors associated with work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSD) among Italian dental professionals, as well as the most affected body regions. A high proportion (84.6%) of dental professionals were found to be affected by WMSD, with a higher prevalence in females and those working longer hours per day and per week. Most surveyed professionals practiced physical activity, but only a small percentage had satisfactory knowledge of ergonomic guidelines. Participants who practiced yoga or stretching had lower WMSD rates compared to other physical activities. The most affected body areas were the neck, shoulders, lumbar region, dorsal region, and wrists. Further education in ergonomics and promoting holistic health among dental professionals is needed to address this issue.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the accuracy and repeatability of an inertial measurement unit (IMU) system for in-field RULA score assessment and compared it with reference values obtained by a motion-capture camera system. Experimental results showed that the 2D convention had significantly smaller root-mean-square error (RMSE) for trunk and neck joint angles, while the 3D convention had moderate agreement with the reference system. The wearable IMU system, along with the 2D convention, could be considered as an accurate and repeatable ergonomic risk assessment tool.

Summary: This study investigated the measures for dealing with violence in emergency care and employees' subjective evaluations. The results showed that the availability of security staff and standardized reporting of incidents were considered important measures, but they were not consistently implemented. High workload in emergency care may impede the implementation of measures, and there is a clear demand for increased support from supervisors and hospital management.

Summary: This study aims to explore the perceptions of ED staff on available violence prevention measures and their effectiveness. Participants reported the effectiveness of environmental, organisational, and individual-focused measures, but financial constraints were identified as the main barrier for implementation. To address this, reducing workload, developing tailored guidelines, and implementing screening tools are recommended. Hospitals should provide guidelines to ED staff, and prevention measures need to be practiced and communicated.

Summary: The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of different music genres, modulated noises and pink noise on heart rate, and to compare the effects among young healthy adults, elderly healthy adults, and patients with Parkinson's disease. The results showed that younger people have a higher variability in heart rate, indicating that they are more sensitive to the conditions studied. The findings suggest that listening to music does not have a systematic influence on decreasing or increasing heart rate.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate work-related musculoskeletal disorders among dance teachers in Germany. A survey was conducted with 229 dance teachers, revealing a 12-month prevalence rate of 60.7%. The most affected areas were the lumbar spine and ankle, and no significant differences were found based on dance styles and gender. These findings are important for developing prevention strategies and personalized interventions.

Summary: Due to irregular working hours and additional family responsibilities, nursing staff may experience disturbances in their internal clock and have a higher risk of daytime sleepiness compared to other occupational groups who do not work in shifts. Female nurses are particularly at risk and have a statistically significant increased risk of excessive daytime sleepiness compared to men from other occupational sectors.

Summary: This study compared two measurement methods, RULA-PP and RULA-IMU, and found differences in risk scores in the arm and wrist analysis, while the differences were small in the neck, trunk, and leg analysis. The results indicated that RULA-IMU had higher discriminatory power and provided more accurate risk assessment for musculoskeletal diseases.

Summary: This systematic review examined the relationship between aggressive and chronic periodontitis and orthodontic treatment. The results showed that orthodontic treatment can improve function and esthetics in periodontally compromised patients, resulting in lower probing depths and clinical attachment gains. However, more high-quality studies are needed to obtain reliable and reproducible treatment results.
