Summary: The study evaluated the incidence of delayed-onset nodules with VYC products in the hands of a single experienced injector. It was found that the incidence of delayed-onset nodules associated with VYC was lower than previous estimates and effective treatment options included prednisone and hyaluronidase. The results suggest that injection technique or product amount were not correlated with the development of delayed-onset nodules.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the clinical prognosis of hyaluronic acid (HA) filler vascular complications based on post-procedural management and clinical findings. The findings showed that early recognition and prompt hyaluronidase injection were crucial in preventing further damage and improving prognosis. This case series highlights the importance of early detection and appropriate management of HA filler complications, and further studies are warranted to confirm these findings and refine treatment strategies.

Summary: This study revealed the arterial supply pattern of the lower nose, finding two interconnected arterial rings. The lower ring, contributed by the facial and superior labial arteries, was found to be more important. Understanding this specific feature is essential for aesthetic physicians performing filler injections in the nasal and perioral regions.

Summary: This study conducted on cadavers provides evidence that soft-tissue fillers can induce lifting effects on the face. Specifically, injections in the lateral face may have additional regional lifting effects on neighboring facial areas.

Summary: This study identified three types of transverse facial arteries, with type III providing an explanation for blindness occurring after lateral face injections. Understanding these arterial variations is essential for studying vascular territories and minimizing complications in facial injections.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcomes of eyes that developed endophthalmitis after intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injections managed without microbiologic cultures. The findings suggest that managing postinjection endophthalmitis using intravitreal antibiotics without microbiologic cultures may be an acceptable treatment strategy in the absence of access to microbiologic facilities, but may lead to more significant visual loss and ocular complications.

Summary: The study explored the development of geographic atrophy (GA) in eyes with neovascular age-related macular degeneration after intravitreal injections of antivascular endothelial growth factor agents. The research found a correlation between the frequency and number of injections and the development of GA, with monthly treatment associated with a higher risk for GA development. Future studies should further clarify the risk factors for GA development and the impact of treatment on its progression.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the effects of two different hyaluronic acid gels for lip injection. The results showed that lip injections with a higher cross-linking density had better lifting capacity. This is a good option for patients who want a prominent upper lip lift.

Summary: The study showed that physician face mask use did not influence the risk of postinjection endophthalmitis compared to a no-talking policy. However, no cases of oral flora-associated endophthalmitis occurred in the Face Mask group. Future studies are warranted to assess the role of face mask use to reduce endophthalmitis risk, particularly attributable to oral flora.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of face mask use on rates and outcomes of post-injection endophthalmitis. The results showed a reduced rate of culture-positive endophthalmitis with face mask use, but no difference in visual acuity between the groups 3 months after presentation.

Summary: This study assessed the precision of facial filler injections using a cannula and found that the use of a cannula allows accurate application of the product in the intended tissue plane. Precision can be improved by injecting smaller amounts of product into deeper tissue layers.

Summary: The exact etiology of late inflammatory reactions (LIRs) to hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers is currently unknown, and the results suggest that immediate or delayed type hypersensitivity reaction does not play a role in these reactions.

Summary: This study included 142 eyes of 98 patients with wet age-related macular degeneration who received a total of 2377 intravitreal anti-VEGF injections. The presence and number of silicone microbubbles were correlated with the number of injections, and OCT artefacts were detected in 11 eyes. The study found a positive correlation between the numbers of injections and intravitreal silicone, and microbubbles can produce OCT artefacts that may impact treatment decisions.
