Summary: The second-hand consumption of clothing can support the transition to circular economies by extending product lifespan through reuse. Historically, not-for-profit businesses have dominated the second-hand markets in Western Europe and North America, but for-profit firms have entered the market in the past decade. This study explores the relationship between different business forms in the changing second-hand market and a socially just circular economy and highlights the importance of considering material flows, legal structures, and financial flows for a more socially just transition.

Summary: This study examines the factors influencing the purchase of sustainable clothing, including conspicuous consumption motives, environmental concern, perceived consumer effectiveness, trust in sustainable clothing brands, and perceived greenwashing. The results show that all proposed factors, except perceived greenwashing, have a positive impact on the purchase of sustainable clothing. Perceived consumer effectiveness moderates the relationship between conspicuous consumption motives and purchasing. The interaction between conspicuous consumption and perceived efficacy has the strongest effect in the model.

Summary: The apparel consumer has a significant role in promoting sustainable practices in the clothing industry, but it is important to determine whether they are aware of the knowledge required for eco-conscious behavior. This study aims to examine clothing acquisition, maintenance, and disposal behavior through a circular economy lens and provide guidelines for consumers to engage in mindful clothing consumption. By understanding the current norms and evaluating the circular-driven behavior, sustainable approaches can be identified. The findings of this study could serve as new guidelines for consumers and other stakeholders in the apparel supply chain.

Summary: Research shows that most respondents have perceived odour in clothing items, with half having disposed of clothing due to strong odours. While odour is not a major reason for clothing disposal, when it is the motivating factor, respondents are more likely to throw odorous items directly into the trash instead of donating, giving away or selling them.

Summary: This study investigates the participation of higher education institutions in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a survey involving 209 experts from 65 countries. The results indicate that the SDGs are seen as opportunities for increased collaboration within and between universities, but there is a need for revising teaching curricula and research programs to include the SDGs. Additionally, students do not actively seek more teaching content and research opportunities related to the SDGs. The study supports the recommendation for higher education institutions to engage in intensified networking efforts and local partnerships to deliver the SDGs.

Summary: Since the UN Conference on the Human Environment in 1972, higher education institutions have been adapting to promote sustainable lifestyles. This study aims to compare perceptions of sustainability among members of these institutions and identify discrepancies between perceptions and actions. The novelty lies in developing a tool to compare user perceptions with the valuation of technicians responsible for implementing sustainability initiatives. This methodology can be adapted for use in other types of institutions, providing similar benefits.

Summary: This paper aims to understand the main difficulties faced by women throughout their careers in Brazil and abroad in STEM fields. The study found that the lack of flexible work systems, the scarcity of gender-sensitive organizational policies and labor policies, and the prevalence of traditional cultural models are key challenges for women in these fields. Discussing gender equality and decent work in education is crucial for increasing women's participation in STEM, which is important for achieving inclusive organizations and sustainable development. The paper provides a unique perspective on the perceived difficulties faced by executive women in Brazil and various countries, offering cross-cultural insights to advance the discussion on women's participation in STEM.
