Summary: The human lifespan has greatly increased due to advancements in sanitation, medicine, and nutrition, but this has led to higher rates of cognitive disorders such as mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia. Risk factors for these disorders include executive function, lifestyle factors, and cognitive reserve. Non-pharmacological approaches, including physical activity, social engagement, and cognitive stimulation, are essential for preserving brain health. In this article, we discuss our research on Reminiscence Therapy (RT) for promoting cognitive and psychological function in old age and early dementia, as well as future directions for tailored interventions.

Summary: In this article, the study protocol for the CBT-ENDURE trial is described, aiming to explore the feasibility of cognitive behavioral therapy in relapse prevention for patients with depression and suicidal ideation following esketamine treatment. The trial will enroll 100 patients with clinically significant suicidal ideation and randomly assign them to receive CBT plus treatment as usual or treatment as usual only. This study is of significant importance in finding effective long-term treatment approaches.

Summary: This study compared the clinical effectiveness of internet-based cognitive behavioral therapy (iCBT) combined with traditional face-to-face therapy (FtF-CBT) in a blended format (B-CBT) for adult major depressive disorder. The results showed no significant difference in treatment efficacy between B-CBT and FtF-CBT at 6 months' follow-up. These findings suggest that B-CBT may be capable of producing treatment effects similar to FtF-CBT.

Summary: The aim of this study was to validate the CSS-W scale for assessing multi-standard comparisons and investigate the effects of habitual well-being comparisons, perceived discrepancies, and engendered affect on depression and psychological well-being. The results showed that both upward and downward comparisons were associated with depression and well-being, but upward comparisons had stronger correlations with these outcomes. Specifically, the frequency of downward comparisons was not significantly correlated with depression. Consistent with our central theory-driven hypothesis, the relationship between the frequency of upward comparisons and depression was partially mediated by serial effects of comparison discrepancy and affect, while the relationship with well-being was fully mediated by comparison discrepancy and affect.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of preventive cognitive behavioral therapy for postpartum depression (PPD). The results showed that a brief cognitive behavioral therapy conducted by mental health professionals with basic training was effective in preventing the manifestation of PPD. Education level was identified as a factor associated with both the manifestation of PPD and the effectiveness of the therapy.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between trait mindfulness and executive function, psychological risk, and resilience in older adults. Trait mindfulness was found to be associated with greater age, education, self-efficacy, and less perceived stress, depression, anxiety, and cognitive concerns. It was also a significant predictor of inhibitory control and mediated the relationship between perceived stress and inhibitory control, highlighting its role in promoting mental health and resilience.

Summary: This study examined attrition from weight loss programs for patients with obesity during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and its association with patients' affective temperaments, psychopathology, and clinical variables. The findings suggest that male patients with obesity are at higher risk of dropout during the pandemic, while affective temperaments may serve as a useful baseline assessment for predicting attrition risk outside of the pandemic.

Summary: Dissociation is common in patients with anorexia nervosa, especially in those with binge-purging subtype. However, the difference between somatoform and psychoform dissociation has not been well studied. This study aimed to assess the differences in somatoform and psychoform dissociation, psychopathology, and childhood trauma between anorexia nervosa subtypes, and to describe a subgroup of patients with marked somatoform dissociation. The findings suggest the importance of assessing dissociation, especially in individuals with a history of bodily-impacting trauma.

Summary: Literature has shown poor concordance in psychiatric condition assessment and heterogeneity in the prevalence of psychiatric comorbidities in Anorexia Nervosa (AN). This study aimed to investigate the level of concordance between clinicians' and researchers' diagnoses of psychiatric comorbidity in AN, as well as differences in eating and general psychopathology between patients with and without psychiatric comorbidity assessed by clinicians versus researchers. The findings highlighted the importance of carefully assessing comorbidity in AN.

Summary: This study examined the reliability, validity, and factorial structure of the Italian version of the Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ) and its shorter versions. The results showed that the Italian BSQ-34 had good psychometric properties and could effectively measure body dissatisfaction in patients with eating disorders. The BSQ-34 also demonstrated a stronger correlation with body mass index and caloric intake than with anxiety and depression levels. The ROC curve analysis indicated that the BSQ-34 accurately distinguished between patients with eating disorders and control subjects.
