Summary: The study evaluates the clinical effectiveness of implementing a first-trimester combined pre-eclampsia screening program in a public healthcare setting. The results show a significant reduction in screen-positive rate, increased aspirin use, and effective identification of preterm pre-eclampsia.

Summary: In mammography, patient-assisted compression (PAC) achieved higher compression forces compared to standard compression (SC), while breast thickness and glandular dose were lower in PAC. In terms of discomfort, PAC had a slightly higher score, but in the satisfaction survey, more women reported less discomfort with PAC. Additionally, 63.2% of women preferred PAC.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of a screening test conducted in the first trimester in identifying the risk of developing preeclampsia. The results showed that the test performed well in identifying women at high risk and emphasized the importance of medical history evaluation in screening.

Summary: In this study comparing one-step screening with two-step screening for gestational diabetes mellitus, the one-step approach resulted in more diagnoses of gestational diabetes mellitus but did not have a significant impact on the incidence of adverse perinatal and maternal outcomes.

Summary: MicroRNA expression analysis showed upregulation of 6 microRNAs in pregnancies with HELLP syndrome, and combining these microRNAs with maternal clinical characteristics can achieve high accuracy in early prediction. The predictive model based on these biomarkers and clinical characteristics has a high potential for predicting HELLP syndrome.

Summary: This study aimed to assess pregnancy outcomes following first trimester combined screening for preterm preeclampsia in Australia. Women who underwent combined screening were less likely to experience preeclampsia, preterm birth, and other pregnancy complications compared to those who received standard care. The screening identified a population at high risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes and low-risk women suitable for less intensive antenatal care.

Summary: Preeclampsia is a significant threat to both mothers and babies, and early-onset disease requiring preterm delivery increases the risk of complications. Low-dose aspirin initiated before 16 weeks reduces the rate of preterm preeclampsia. Identifying pregnant women at risk during the first trimester is crucial, and current screening methods have suboptimal performance compared to the Fetal Medicine Foundation's first trimester prediction model (the triple test). This model has high detection rates and low false-positive rates, outperforming traditional risk factor screening methods.

Summary: The objective of this study is to evaluate the positive predictive value (PPV) of first-trimester combined PE screening for various placenta-mediated adverse pregnancy outcomes. The findings suggest that women at high risk for preterm PE are also at increased risk for other adverse outcomes such as PTB, SGA birth, and stillbirth. Therefore, it is recommended to implement higher surveillance and interventions to mitigate these risks.

Summary: A randomized clinical trial found that both a tailored message intervention and a generic message intervention were significantly more effective at increasing colonoscopy scheduling and completion rates among individuals whose CRC screening was not up to date compared with usual care. These findings suggest that individualized health communications can increase individual motivation to obtain CRC screening.

Summary: The study compared the efficacy of digital smart devices in detecting atrial fibrillation (AF) and found that digital screening technology more than doubled the detection rate of treatment-relevant AF compared to usual care. This technology has the potential for broad applicability and further studies are needed to assess if digital screening for AF leads to better treatment outcomes.

High treatment adherence to aspirin also plays a significant role in the effectiveness of this screening program.

Summary: This study systematically evaluated the impact of different skin incision types on the risk of wound complications in obese women undergoing cesarean delivery, finding that vertical incisions may increase the risk of wound complications compared to transverse incisions. More randomized controlled trials are needed in this area to assess the optimal cesarean skin incision for these women.

Summary: Maternal and perinatal complications increase with advancing maternal age, with higher risks of stillbirth, cesarean delivery, and maternal mortality in women over 40, over 45, and over 50 years old. The risk of maternal mortality is highest in women over 50 years old. These findings are important for counseling women with advanced maternal age about their pregnancy risks.

Summary: A systematic review and meta-analysis showed that compared to SC and CCC, UCS has a significantly worse prognosis with a 1.5-1.6-fold increased risk of death. This suggests the need for more aggressive treatment for UCS compared to SC and CCC. Further studies are necessary to define the prognostic impact of different molecular subgroups.
