Summary: This paper proposes multiscale characterization methods for additive manufactured surfaces using 3D topographic data at different resolutions. The methods involve point pattern analysis, roughness characterization, and feature-based characterization. The results demonstrate the different contributions of weld track features and particle features to surface roughness at different scales.

Summary: Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are a family of particles/vesicles found in blood and body fluids, playing important roles in cell communication and regulation of cell processes. Recent years have seen increased interest in the content and function of EVs, but this has also led to confusion in their classification and naming. This review analyzes the evolution of knowledge and definition of EVs over the years.

Summary: This study developed a continuous processing platform for the production of lipid and polymeric-based nanoparticle formulations and investigated the functional relationships between critical process parameters, critical material attributes, and critical quality attributes. Different-sized and low polydispersity index liposomes were produced with various processing conditions and material attributes. The continuous processing system provided more flexibility compared to conventional manufacturing methods.

Summary: The study evaluated the chemical and morphological changes of femtosecond laser-irradiated enamel using Raman spectroscopy, CLSM, and SEM. Results showed a significant decrease in carbonate content and carbonate/phosphate ratio in enamel after laser irradiation, without altering its structure and morphology.

Summary: This research found that the height of H13 hot-work tool steel samples is significantly affected by the scanning speed during additive manufacturing, and adding a draft angle can reduce side surface roughness. Decreasing scan speed increases surface roughness, while using a finer layer thickness results in overbuilding and a coarser layer thickness results in underbuilding. There is no clear trend in surface roughness when layer thickness is changed.

Summary: A novel NIR-II CLSM system has been developed using inexpensive SiPM for multicolor biological imaging in vivo, achieving spatial resolution close to the diffraction limit and very low fluorescence detection sensitivity. Experiments in mice demonstrated comparable multicolor imaging performance in both NIR-I and NIR-II windows.

Summary: This study investigates the behavior of biofouling on water reuse membranes using confocal microscopy. Through in situ monitoring and image analysis, the growth and removal processes of biofilms and the production of extracellular polymeric substances are revealed. The results provide important insights for the development of improved techniques for biofouling mitigation.

Summary: One of the main challenges in scanning microscopy is to increase the scanning speed without compromising the spatial resolution of the image. This paper presents a solution using Lissajous scanning and phase modulation techniques to achieve higher imaging speeds while maintaining resolution. Experimental results show that this approach can significantly improve both temporal and spatial resolution.

Summary: The development of fluorophores with photoemission beyond 1000 nm provides the opportunity to develop novel fluorescence microscopes sensitive to those wavelengths. Imaging at wavelengths beyond the visible spectrum enables imaging depths of hundreds of microns in intact tissue, making this attractive for volumetric imaging applications.

Summary: Mitochondria play a crucial role in energy management and intracellular signaling, and damage to mitochondria can lead to dysfunction. Mitophagy, the degradation of damaged mitochondria, can restore normal metabolism. Visualizing the dynamic changes in mitochondrial structure and pH values using microscopy techniques can help understand mitochondrial functions and diagnose mitochondrial dysfunction-related diseases.
