This study investigates the influencing factors of organizational collaboration within the smart logistics ecological chain, emphasizing the importance of empowerment capability and information-sharing level. The findings highlight the impact of emerging digital technology, personalized demand, and peer competition on collaboration degree through the intermediary variable of empowerment capability. Essentially, this study fills a theoretical gap in analyzing the organizational collaboration degree of SLEC in the context of the smart economy.
Purpose This study explores the influencing factors of smart logistics ecological chain's (SLEC's) organizational collaboration and designs a corresponding conceptual framework. Design/methodology/approach The multi-case study is applied to this paper. Specifically, this study is a combination of exploratory and explanatory case studies. Findings The findings are threefold. First, empowerment capability and the information-sharing level are unique factors that affect SLEC's organizational collaboration. Second, greater empowerment capability stimulates the increase of information-sharing level. Third, emerging digital technology, personalized demand and peer competition affect the degree of SLEC's organizational collaboration through an intermediary variable - empowerment capability. Specifically, the emerging digital technology application and peer competition degrees have positive effects on empowerment capability, while the demand personalization degree negatively (positively) affects empowerment capability in the short (long) term. Originality/value As an important part of supply chain performance, organizational collaboration is receiving more attention. However, in the smart economy context, no theoretical framework exists for analyzing factors that affect the organizational collaboration degree of SLEC. This study fills this gap.

Cooperate or not? Strategic analysis of platform interactions considering market power and precision marketing

Weihua Liu, Yanjie Liang, Ou Tang, Victor Shi, Xinyun Liu

Summary: This study examines the impact of SSPs' market power and CRPs' precision marketing on platform cooperation, using stylized models. It finds that cooperation becomes the equilibrium strategy when CRP's commission rate is low (high) and SSP's market power is low (high), and that market power may affect the equilibrium strategy with a change in the commission rate, with an invalidation effect in some cases. The study also suggests that precision marketing may reduce supply chain members' willingness to cooperate when the commission rate is high, but stimulate cooperation when the rate is low.

Channel competition and collaboration in the presence of hybrid

Weihua Liu, Yanjie Liang, Ou Tang, Xin Ma

Summary: This study examines the motivation and effectiveness of a hybrid retailing strategy in the e-retailing market, where a reseller and an agency seller collaborate to expand the market. Game-theoretic models are developed to analyze retail and wholesale prices, as well as the equilibrium channel choice. The findings show that the hybrid retailing strategy can result in higher retail prices for the reseller, while the agency seller prefers to reduce the retail price when the demand through the hybrid retailing channel is high.

Intelligent logistics transformation problems in efficient commodity distribution

Weihua Liu, Jiahui Zhang, Yangyan Shi, Paul Tae-Woo Lee, Yanjie Liang

Summary: In recent years, comprehensive information, intelligence, and automation technology have become the emerging development trend in distribution enterprises. However, the implementation of intelligent logistics transformation (ILT) in China has faced challenges. This study proposes a conceptual model of ILT problems based on the grounded theory and identifies five major factors influencing ILT problems in efficient commodity distribution. The findings suggest that inherent risks, organizational difficulties, market obstacles, market drivers, and social factors all play a significant role in ILT implementation. This study provides practical recommendations for firms and governments to implement ILT in efficient commodity distribution.

CSR investment for a two-sided platform: Network externality and risk aversion

Wanying Wei, Weihua Liu, Ou Tang, Chuanwen Dong, Yanjie Liang

Summary: The business of two-sided platforms such as online ride-sharing has grown rapidly, but complying with CSR regulations is a challenge, especially on the supply side. This paper develops a game-theoretic model for a two-sided platform and analyzes the effects of network externalities and risk aversion on CSR investment decision-making. The results show that network externalities may not necessarily stimulate CSR investment, while risk aversion consistently encourages CSR investment.
