Summary: The study found that dietary alpha-lipoic acid can effectively reduce lead accumulation in Channa argus, reverse Pb-induced alterations in biochemical and immunity parameters, inhibit Pb-induced reduction in antioxidant enzyme activities, and relieve Pb-induced inflammatory response and oxidative stress by regulating NF-kappa B and Nrf2 signaling pathways.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the potential neuroprotective and memory-improving effects of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) against doxorubicin (DOX)-induced cognitive impairment. The results showed that ALA treatment significantly protected against DOX-induced memory impairment and alleviated DOX-induced oxidative and inflammatory damage through upregulation of the NRF-2/HO-1 signaling pathway.

Summary: This research found that α-lipoic acid (LA) has a protective effect against ulcerative colitis (UC) by alleviating UC symptoms and reducing the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. LA treatment can also inhibit intestinal cell apoptosis and oxidative stress. In addition, it regulates the Keap1-Nrf2 signaling pathway and inhibits ferroptosis. LA can attenuate endoplasmic reticulum stress and apoptosis in erastin-induced ferroptosis.

Summary: Arsenite exposure can negatively impact the quality of oocytes, but supplementation of alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) can restore their competency and fertilization capacity. ALA improves the maturation of oocytes, enhances sperm binding ability, reduces oxidative stress, and prevents DNA damage and apoptosis.

Summary: The study demonstrated that alpha-lipoic acid supplementation significantly reduced Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, but had no significant effect on other antioxidant enzymes and oxidative stress parameters. Overall, it suggested that alpha-lipoic acid supplementation might improve lipid peroxidation, and recommended a daily intake of less than 800 mg for controlling lipid peroxidation.

Summary: The study confirmed the safety and efficacy of α-lipoic acid (ALA) therapy for noise-induced hearing loss, especially through intratympanic administration (IT-ALA), which showed better recovery than intraperitoneal injection (IP-ALA) and intratympanic dexamethasone (IT-DEX) in terms of organ of Corti morphology and hearing levels.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of alpha-lipoic acid (alpha-LA) on oxidative stress parameters and inflammation in the ventricles and atria of the heart in rats. The results suggest that alpha-LA administration can effectively prevent inflammation and oxidative stress in the ventricles and atria of the heart.

Summary: This study investigated the protective effects of alpha-lipoic acid against chronic ammonia stress in crucian carp. The results showed that alpha-lipoic acid effectively induced humoral immunity, alleviated oxidative stress and endoplasmic reticulum stress, and ultimately reduced liver injury caused by ammonia poisoning.

Summary: This study found that ALA has potential protective benefits against 5-FU-induced gastrointestinal mucositis. ALA can reduce inflammation and oxidative stress caused by mucositis, promote tissue repair, and have significant implications for cancer patients, especially those receiving 5-FU therapy.

Summary: This study found that gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) induced liver damage in rats by causing oxidative stress and inflammation. However, co-supplement of alpha-lipoic acid (alpha-LA) attenuated the liver damage caused by AuNPs by upregulating/activating Nrf2.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the protective effects of α-lipoic acid against octylphenol-induced male infertility. The results showed that octylphenol caused abnormalities in serum reproductive hormone levels and oxidative stress levels, as well as histopathological and histochemical abnormalities in hypothalamus, pituitary, and testicular tissues. However, these derangements were successfully reversed by α-lipoic acid through its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
