Summary: Analyzing whole blood samples from a population-based study in Norway, the study investigated the concentrations of 28 trace elements in the general population of the Nord-Trondelag region. Findings suggested low exposure to toxic trace elements in the region, with differences in concentrations related to geographical locations and individual lifestyle factors.

Summary: The overall incidence rates of atrial fibrillation in the adult Norwegian population remained stable from 2004 to 2014, with the exception of a yearly increase in the 18-44 age group. The prevalence of atrial fibrillation at the end of 2014 was 3.4% in the adult population. Signs of increasing incidence of early-onset atrial fibrillation (<45 years) are concerning and require further investigation.

Summary: This study aimed to provide objective national data on the incidence and prevalence of psoriasis in Norway. From 2004 to 2020, 272,725 patients received prescriptions for psoriasis vulgaris. From 2015 to 2020, 84,432 patients received their first prescription for psoriasis vulgaris. The point prevalence of psoriasis in Norway from 2015 to 2020 was 3.8-4.6% and the incidence was 0.29-0.25%.

Summary: The study aimed to identify the prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in different states and counties, using data linkage between health and education datasets. The results showed variations in ASD prevalence rates among different states and counties, with a higher prevalence among boys and lower prevalence among certain racial/ethnic groups. The findings suggest the importance of using statewide data linkage to obtain local information when more comprehensive methods are not feasible.

Summary: This epidemiologic study used data from the Norwegian Patient Registry to estimate the national prevalence and incidence of keratoconus, finding a predominance of male patients and an average age of 37.5 at first registration. The study concluded that keratoconus is not a rare condition, with estimated prevalence and incidence higher than previously thought.

Summary: The study presents national cancer statistics and trends in Korea for 2018, covering incidence, mortality, survival, and prevalence rates. Overall, cancer incidence rates increased annually by 3.3% from 1999 to 2012, then decreased by 5.4% annually from 2012 to 2015, followed by insignificant changes. Meanwhile, cancer mortality rates have been decreasing since 2002, with a more rapid decline in recent years.

Summary: The study found that the cumulative prevalence of atrial fibrillation in the Danish population is around 3.0%, but the incidence has decreased since 2015. Methodological choices, particularly regarding the strictness of case definition and the length of the washout period, substantially influence the reported estimates.

Summary: Europe has seen an increase in forest areas, but intact natural forests are declining globally. The biophysical assessment of forest ecosystem services in Norway reveals that industrial forestry, reforestation, and infrastructure development are the main drivers of forest transformation. The study also highlights the impact of economic changes on forest ecosystem services and the shifting relationship between forests and local communities. While Norway's forests excel in providing provisioning services, their overall ecological condition is relatively poor.

Summary: Food safety beliefs that are not based on science can have negative consequences, as highlighted by this study on gastroenteritis. The research found that a significant portion of the population believes in food safety myths, with some even reporting them as facts, and these beliefs are positively correlated with the incidences and prevalence of gastroenteritis. Notably, unscientific beliefs about eggs, bacteria inactivation, vegetarianism, and eating dirt and diarrhea were found to have the strongest correlations.

Summary: The incidence and prevalence of neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) in Norway from 1993 to 2021 have shown a significant increase. The incidence of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) increased by 268%, with the highest increase seen in the pancreas, lungs, and small intestine. The incidence of neuroendocrine carcinomas (NECs) did not change, but there was an increase in NECs originating from the skin and gastrointestinal tract. Overall, the study revealed a substantial increase in NENs incidence and prevalence in Norway.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the incidence and prevalence of immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM) in adults in Olmsted County, Minnesota. The results showed an incidence rate of 8.3 per million person-years and a prevalence rate of 1.85 per 100,000 people in 2010. IMNM patients did not have a higher risk of developing cancer compared to the general population.

Summary: This study provided a population-based estimate of the prevalence of PNES for the first time. The findings suggest that the prevalence of PNES falls within the range of estimates from non-population-based data. A notably high prevalence of PNES was found in the 15-19-year age group.
